I am running for re-election because I care deeply about serving the people of Fremont County and ensuring property assessments are fair, accurate, and transparent. I have worked in the Assessor’s Office for 32 years and have served the last 15 years as your County Assessor. During that time, I have gained extensive experience in property valuation, Wyoming tax law, and the many legislative changes that affect taxpayers. My goal is to continue providing professional service, maintaining an open-door policy, and helping taxpayers understand the assessment process.
Good decisions require good information. As County Assessor, I believe it is my responsibility to provide the County Commission and our legislators with accurate data and a clear understanding of how proposed laws and policies will affect Fremont County taxpayers. Every county is different, and what works in one area may not work in another. My role is to share facts, answer questions, and provide professional expertise so local and state leaders can make informed decisions that best serve our communities.
One of the biggest improvements we can make is helping taxpayers better understand how the property tax system works. Many people are surprised to learn that assessors determine property values, while tax rates are set through a separate public budgeting process. The current valuation system is designed to provide fairness and consistency across all property owners. Any changes to Wyoming’s property tax system must also meet constitutional requirements for equality and uniformity. Greater transparency and public education would help build trust and confidence in the process.

I will serve as a voice for Fremont County taxpayers by providing the County Commission and State Legislature with accurate, detailed information and professional expertise on property assessment issues. My goal will be to ensure local and state leaders fully understand how proposed tax policies, assessment changes, and budgeting decisions may affect our taxpayers and communities
I would improve the current property tax assessment system by focusing on transparency, consistency, efficiency, and taxpayer education. Taxpayers should understand how their property is valued and have confidence that they are being treated fairly and equally. I would continue improving office procedures and technology, strengthen staff training, and provide clear information to taxpayers about assessments, exemptions, and the appeal process. I would also use my experience and relationships with county and state leaders to identify problems, communicate Fremont County’s needs, and advocate for practical improvements that benefit property owners.
