CITY OF LOCUST CITY COUNCIL {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

The City of Locust operates under the Mayor Council form of government. The City Council is comprised of a Mayor and seven (7) Council Members. The Mayor is elected at large and serves 2-year terms. Council Members, also elected at large, serve staggered terms of 4 years. Municipal elections are non-partisan and decided by a simple plurality. No primary elections are held. The City Council acts as the legislative body of the City, and they provide guidance and direction to City staff to meet the goals of the City. The City Council employs a City Administrator to supervise all departments.

Position/philosophy statement I believe that the purpose and function of local government is to promote good and punish evil. Local should be responsive to the infrastructure and public safety needs of its citizens.

I am a retired law enforcement officer and former Christian school teacher. I am also a Navy veteran. I currently serve on the City of Locust Planning and Zoning Board, an advisory committee to the city council. My real life experiences and years of study and application of academic knowledge in my professions enhances my understanding and knowledge of civic responsibility and municipal governance.
My first priority is to address infrastructure issues for the continuous population increases in the city.

My second priority is to work with the North Carolina department of transportation to address increased traffic congestion.

My third priority is to maintain staffing for public safety, the Locust Police Department, and a high standard of training and equipment for the officers.
I will work with the mayor, city manager and city council to address innovative solutions to infrastructure problems.
If elected I will responsive to the needs of local residents.
