My background in busiiness and professional experience with a Fortune 100 company have prepared me well to serve as a school board member. I bring a strong understanding of budgeting, strategic planning, and accountability- skills that are essential when overseeing public funds, and making long term decisions for a for a large organiztion like a school district. Working in a corporate environment taught me how to analyze data, manage complex projects, collaborate with diverse teams, and make decisions that balance performance, efficiency, and people
Parents shouldn’t be spectators in public education. At both the school and district level, families bring real-world insight about what’s working, what isn’t, and how policies affect students day to day.
The focus should be on creating a culture where parents feel informed, respected, and genuinely heard. When families trust the system, students benefit—and that’s the outcome everyone wants
Streamline administrative tasks, reducing redundant reporting, and giving teachers protected planning and collaboration time during the workday. The impact would be
• Stronger classroom instruction
• Improved teacher retention,
• More consistent support for students,
Better use of taxpayer dollars, with resources going directly into classrooms.
To recruit and retain qualified teachers, I would focus on making our district a place where educators feel supported, respected, and able to grow. This includes competitive pay and benefits, but also strong mentorship for new teachers, meaningful professional development, and reduced non-instructional burdens so teachers can focus on teaching. I would support clear pathways for career advancement, teacher input in decision-making, and consistent, fair discipline policies that protect classroom learning. Retention improves when teachers feel valued, heard, and supported by leadership and the community.
Pre-Kindergarten programs are a critical investment in student success and long-term district outcomes. High-quality Pre-K helps children develop early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills, reducing achievement gaps before they widen. It also supports working families and strengthens kindergarten readiness, allowing teachers to build on a stronger foundation. I support expanding access to effective, evidence-based Pre-K programs, especially for at-risk students, while ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with K-12 standards so early gains translate into lasting academic success.

I worked in public education for over 12 years, I had the opportunity to work in maintenance, then as an Instructional Assistant, Head Football and Wrestling Coach, Exceptional Children's Teacher, Behavior Support Specialist, Youth Education Assistant Team Leader Cadre with the North Carolina National Guard. I own and operate a real estate firm. I am the immediate past chairman of the Cabarrus County Young Republicans and now serve on the Cabarrus GOP executive committee. A 2025 nominee for "Man of the year" by the NC federation of Young Republicans. I am a proud graduate of CCS, I have two children that attend CCS and my wife works for CCS.
The most important responsibility of a school board member is ensuring the safety of students and staff. Board members are responsible for making sure schools are providing every student with the opportunity for a basic education, creating policies that establish standards, accountability and are in compliance with state law. Be knowledgeable of the budget and be a good steward of taxpayer funds. Also responsible for hiring a Superintendent that understands the goals of CCS and the expectations of the community. Being an advocate for children and serving the community is a priority every board member should have.
That is a great question as the district has asked for money with a GO bond on the November ballot. I believe there is wasteful spending and there are ways to save funds while maintaining a high level of educational instruction. We need to build new schools but we also have to be mindful of taxpayers. I believe a compromise and a more thoughtful plan would have been a better alternative before asking for 400 million. It will be up to the voters now.
We have to be innovative and offer more or better than other districts. I am in favor of having a service years based incentive. We also have to look at our support staff as they are often left out and they do not receive any local supplements.
I believe Pre - K is important for the development of children for basic skills. I am not a fan of taxpayers footing the bill, there are lots of Pre Ks out there, many are offered by religious organizations that a lot of times work with parents on price.

Years of leadership under my belt: retired US Navy officer, international export business General Manager, 16-year educator with Cabarrus County Schools, Executive Director of the West Cabarrus YMCA, and Dream On 3 Director of Growth and Expansion which called for leading Advisory Boards in GA, CO, NC, VA, DC, TX.
The greatest experience was serving as Chief of Staff for CCS, enabling me to be present for all the Board of Education’s closed and open sessions spanning many years.
Ensure compliance with education laws for the state of North Carolina; provide for safe and effective schools in our district; listen to the community, teachers, staff, businesses that we serve to provide the leadership necessary to achieve our mission: educate our students
1. Managing Growth & Capacity
o Address overcrowded schools already at or exceeding design capacity
o Plan and build new schools (next elementary school scheduled for Fall 2028)
o Consider enrollment caps
2. Deferred Maintenance Crisis
o Address $250 million in deferred maintenance across district facilities
o Shift from costly corrective maintenance to preventive maintenance
3. Teacher & Staff Retention
o Improve compensation and appreciation for educators
o Ensure all employees feel seen, known, and valued
4. Governance & Accountability
o Maintain strong relationships with County Commissioners and Local Government Commission
o Ensure transparent accountability from schools to Board to community
Examine what policies are in effect that burden the teachers, adding to their curricular day. E.g., student's ability to retest if they achieve a score less than 80%
Undertake a zero-base budget review to see if excesses exist
Work with the County Commissioners to reinstate teacher benefits that have been eroding over the past decade
Pre-K programs are proven to place children at a huge advantage in starting kindergarten and beyond. Skills such as socialization, classroom processes and procedures, behaviors conducive to supporting classroom learning, phonemic awareness, fine and gross other skills - to name a few. Extremely important!
The educational arena is a complex one requiring a strong grasp of what is happening across the many facets of a school system. Listening, listening, and listening need to be the drumbeat of any school board member so that effective, collaborative, and constructive leadership can take our schools from good to great!

I bring a unique combination of experience as a certified teacher, parent, and community advocate. I have taught in a Title I school in Cabarrus County, giving me firsthand understanding of the challenges facing students, teachers, and families. I serve on 2 PTO boards and the CCS Parent Advisory Board, and advocated for public education. I know how to listen, collaborate, ask thoughtful questions, and turn concerns into action. Most importantly, I bring a student-centered perspective and understand the responsibility of making decisions that impact every child, educator, and family in our district.
A school board member’s most important responsibility is to be accountable to the community and ensure decisions are made in the best interests of students. Board members must provide oversight and hold the superintendent accountable for carrying out the district’s goals and policies. They are responsible for developing a responsible budget that prioritizes student needs, staffing, resources, and a safe, supportive learning environment. Board members must also create policies that reflect the needs of our diverse student population, listen to families and educators, use data to guide decisions, and ensure the district is transparent and accountable to the public.
Our critical needs include managing continued growth, retaining and recruiting highly qualified teachers and staff, maintaining safe and supportive schools, and ensuring students have the academic, mental health, and behavioral supports they need to succeed. I would prioritize funding based on student needs and measurable impact, while protecting essential classroom resources and staffing. I would closely examine how existing funds are being used, prioritize programs with demonstrated results, seek additional state and local resources when needed, and make difficult choices transparently. Every budget decision should ultimately ask: Does this investment improve outcomes for students and support the people serving them?
I would focus on both compensation and working conditions. During budget season, I advocated before the School Board and County Commissioners for higher local supplements for teachers because competitive compensation is essential to recruiting and retaining educators. But retention is about more than pay. I would continue listening to teachers and addressing workload, classroom resources, professional development, and school leadership. Teachers need to feel valued, respected, and supported, with a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their classrooms. Our goal should be to make Cabarrus County Schools a place where talented educators want to build their careers.
Early childhood education is essential to giving children a strong foundation for success in school and beyond. I believe access to quality Pre-K should be a priority, particularly for children who may enter kindergarten without the same early learning opportunities as their peers. A strong Pre-K program can help children develop early academic, social, and emotional skills while giving families greater support. I would advocate for continued investment in accessible, high-quality Pre-K programs and for strong partnerships between early childhood providers and our schools so children enter kindergarten ready to learn and thrive.
I am running for the Cabarrus County Board of Education because I believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and every family deserves to know their school board is listening. As a certified educator, parent, and longtime advocate for public education, I bring firsthand experience from the classroom, from our schools, and from our community. I understand the challenges our district faces as we continue to grow, and I also believe in recognizing and building on the progress our schools and educators are making.
I will listen to teachers, families, students, and community members, ask tough questions, use data to guide decisions, and advocate for responsible investments in our schools. I will work collaboratively, remain accountable to the community, and keep students at the center of every decision. I am ready to serve with transparency, compassion, and a commitment to doing what is best for all of Cabarrus County’s students.
