As a City Director, my duty is to represent the citizens of Fort Smith and make decisions based on what is best for the community as a whole. The Board sets policy, approves ordinances, major expenditures, and priorities, and provides oversight of city administration. I believe the role requires doing the homework, asking questions, listening to citizens, and making sure tax dollars are used responsibly. As an At-Large Director, I would represent the entire city and work to protect essential services including public safety, water and sewer, drainage, infrastructure, and animal control.
My experience combines more than 21 years in business with several years of public service in the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. In business, I have managed contracts, budgets, profitability, customer relationships, and complex projects, strengthening my skills in financial oversight, problem-solving, negotiation, and accountability. My public-service experience taught me how to work with law enforcement, navigate government processes, and serve people during difficult situations. I also bring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to research issues, ask questions, and make informed decisions.
My first priority would be improving our water and sewer system while protecting residents from unnecessary financial burden. I would push for a clear plan that prioritizes critical infrastructure, addresses water loss and billing accuracy, and aggressively pursues grants and low-interest funding. I also believe we need responsible spending, stronger financial oversight, regular public reporting, and a 5, 10, and 15-year growth plan. By making it easier for businesses to open and operate here and using assets like Ebbing and I-40 to attract aerospace manufacturing, warehousing, and related industries, we can grow our tax base, create jobs, and better fund essential services without continually asking citizens to pay more.
