I’m running for re-election to the Crestwood School Board because I care deeply about our students, our staff, and the future of our community. My children attend Crestwood schools, my wife works in the district, and I’ve coached here for more than 10 years. I see firsthand how the decisions we make affect our families and classrooms, and I want to continue making sure students come first and our staff have the support they need. I bring four years of experience on the Crestwood School Board, along with more than 25 years of community work through HYPE Athletics, where I serve as Chief Operating Officer. As a parent, coach, and board member, I’ve built relationships with students and families and understand the importance of being present
My top priorities are student achievement, school safety, preparing students for life after graduation, and making sure students stay connected through athletics, arts, and extracurricular activities. I believe we need to identify students who are struggling early and make sure they get the support they need. We also have to keep our schools safe, support our staff, and create an environment where students feel respected and ready to learn. I also want to continue expanding college, career, CTE, skilled trades, and dual enrollment opportunities so every student has a path after high school. For me, it all comes back to keeping students first and making sure every child has the opportunity to succeed.
I believe every student deserves to feel like they belong and have a real opportunity to succeed, no matter where they come from, what challenges they face, or how they identify. As a school board member, I would pay attention to whether all students are actually getting access to the same academic programs, extracurricular activities, career opportunities, and support services. If barriers are keeping students or families from participating, we need to understand why and work to remove them. To me, equity is not about treating every student exactly the same. It is about making sure each student has the support, encouragement, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential.
As a parent, coach, and school board member, school safety is very personal to me. Every child should be able to walk into school feeling safe, respected, and comfortable being there. From the board level, I believe we need clear and consistent policies when it comes to bullying, threats, harassment, and behavior. Just as important, our staff need the proper training to recognize problems early, de-escalate situations, and know when a student may need additional support. Parents and students also need to know that when they bring a concern forward, they will be heard and taken seriously. Communication and trust are extremely important.

I am running for the Crestwood School Board to ensure our students graduate ready for college, skilled trades, and future careers, backed by a board that values transparency and community input. Our schools are the heart of Dearborn Heights. With a strong professional background in strategic leadership, resource allocation, and project management, I have the skills to provide responsible oversight for our district budget and make sound, data-informed decisions. As a Crestwood parent, I will listen to families and respect our educators. My focus will always be putting tax dollars directly into classroom resources, safe facilities, and student success.
My top priorities are academic achievement, staff support, and transparent district governance:

Academic Excellence & Career Pathways: Strengthen core reading and math proficiencies with modern curriculum tools, expand advanced STEM courses, and broaden vocational/technical opportunities.

Staff Retention & Morale: Attract and retain exceptional educators through competitive compensation, manageable class sizes, and strong professional development.

Fiscal Accountability & Modern Facilities: Maximize every tax dollar with transparent budgeting. I will prioritize direct classroom funding, upgrade aging facilities, and expand multilingual communication so all families stay engaged partners.
Equity means meeting every student where they are with the resources required to succeed. In our district, that starts with strengthening English Language Learner (ELL) programs, hiring bilingual staff, and providing district communications in English, Arabic, and other home languages so no family is left behind.

For students facing economic hardship, we must remove barriers to achievement by guaranteeing access to digital devices, nutritious meals, and fee-free extracurriculars. I also support robust anti-bullying protections and expanded mental health services to ensure students of every background—including students of color and LGBTQ+ youth—feel safe, respected, and empowered in every Crestwood classroom.
A secure school environment requires both strong physical safety and a supportive climate:

Physical Security: Regularly audit building access points, maintain clear crisis response protocols, and partner closely with local emergency responders while keeping schools warm and welcoming.

Climate & Anti-Bullying: Enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy against bullying, harassment, and cyberbullying. Implement peer mediation, character education, and confidential reporting tools like OK2SAY.

Training & Mental Health: Provide staff with training in crisis de-escalation and trauma-informed practices. Expanding access to licensed counselors and social workers ensures student needs are addressed early.

I am running for school board because I am an educator with over 23 years of experience. I have been Union President for four years and I see the impact school boards have on our public schools and communities. I have one child who recently graduated and one who continues to attend school in Crestwood. As an educator, I will bring a much needed perspective and as a parent of a current student, I understand first hand the issues our families and students experience. I want to use my experience as an educator, union leader, parent, and community member to ensure our district continues to meet the needs of our students, families and staff.
Transparency, student wellbeing, expanding the arts, and supporting our staff are priorities. I would like the district to share spending information on their website to make it accessible to residents. By pairing with community organizations and non-profits, we can reduce vaping, bullying, and improve our students' mental health. Crestwood's theater program at the high school can be expanded to middle & k-5 schools . I would like to help the district get grants to grow the other arts programs, such as music, band, and fine arts. Finally, our staff's working conditions are our students' learning conditions. I would like to ensure our staff is well compensated and respected to ensure retention of our experienced educators & staff.
As someone who immigrated to the USA at a young age & former English language learner myself, I understand the need to provide supports and resources ensuring ALL students and families have access to opportunities. Fortunately, there are many local resources with whom we can partner to make this easy. LAHC & ACCESS provide services to students and families revolving around mental health, substance use, social services, etc. The Ruth Ellis Center provides support for LGBTQ+ youth as well as family supports. Partnering with these and other resources would help support our families via tried and true channels and organizations.
All staff should be trained in trauma informed practices, de-escalation techniques, and restorative practices. All incidents should be immediately investigated and resolved. Administrators should not only issue discipline, but also consistently check in with the aggressors and the victims to monitor retaliation. Families should be included to ensure communication is clear to parents/guardians. This will also improve school climate as staff will feel supported by administration. Behavior data should be reviewed regularly and used to make updates or changes to school processes.
