I am a lifelong resident of Ishpeming and have been actively engaged in the community throughout my life. I attended Ishpeming Public Schools. I have served on various committees, as a City Council Member, and as Mayor. I have a deep understanding of the City's history and people. I am accessible to residents and want to hear their input. I am also the type of person who wants to get to the bottom of things, understand all sides of an issue, and find the best solution for everyone. And finally, I don't have a personal agenda, vendetta, or business interest as my reason for serving.
The top three priorities for the City are: achieving financial stability, continuing infrastructure improvements, and growing our tax base through creative housing solutions. To achieve financial stability, we must explore burdens on our general fund and put a stop to them. We must spend wisely to protect the general fund for our future. To continue addressing our aging infrastructure, we must find grants as our residents cannot afford to pay debt caused by past neglect. Our streets need paving and we still have some underground work to do, so it's going to be important to find new revenue. Growing our tax base through new development is important, but we've got to be smart about it. We need private partners, housing development incentives, and construction that doesn't further burden our infrastructure. I will be open to finding solutions and working with others.
