My priority as Mayor is to make Ishpeming a community where families choose to settle down, entrepreneurs choose to invest, and other communities want to emulate. It is a grand vision, but it is what Ishpeming deserves.
That begins with planning for the future. We must maintain and improve our water, sewer, and roads. With two major infrastructure projects underway, now is the time to prepare for what comes next.
Through my work on the DDA, I’ve focused on building a vibrant business community. Supporting our longtime businesses while actively seeking new opportunities and investment is a key for our future business growth.
Communication must also be a priority. Residents deserve important information delivered clearly, simply, and quickly.
None of these goals are accomplished by one person. They require city staff, the Council, local businesses, and most importantly, the people who call Ishpeming home.
I ask for your vote this November and the opportunity to serve as your Mayor.
I would like to continue to see increased transparency, a focus on economic and housing development, a renewed focus on constituent service, and continued work on improving our infrastructure.
We also need to focus on cultivating relationships with our elected officials at the county, state, and federal level. I've built relationships with elected officials that have proven beneficial for the city; working together with Senator McBroom and Representative Bohnak to bring a new fire engine to the city that was a direct state budget item. These relationships help us with grant opportunities, state and federal funding, economic development assistance, and much more.
We must also continue working on making Ishpeming a better place for families. From building new housing units to fixing our neighborhood playgrounds, we have to do more.
I also have the experience of several years on the city council and a term as mayor. With such a tight budget, experience is needed now more than ever.
