In conversations throughout my District, I am hearing that Mainers are worried about rising costs of basic needs (groceries, utilities, health care, housing, property taxes) and trying to balance reducing these costs with economic growth opportunities while also being thoughtful about environmental impacts (ie: as with AI Data Centers). They are also concerned about access to health care from birth to elder care, our public education system, and preserving our natural resources for future generations.
Sanford continues to struggle with chronic homelessness. While we have a plan in place and Housing for Good on the horizon, residents have legitimate concerns about both the well-being of the unhoused and the impact on our community, including needle waste, open drug use, trash, and public safety. I believe we can have both compassion and accountability. We must invest in housing, shelters, prevention, and substance use resources that help people rebuild their lives. At the same time, law enforcement must be able to enforce our laws and address repeat offenses. We can treat people with dignity while also expecting accountability and maintaining safe, clean public spaces for everyone. I intend to work on this in Augusta.
I'm a graduate of Sanford High School. I'm a small business owner, a CPA, a City Councilor, a wife, a mother, and someone who believes deeply that public service is about solving problems—not scoring political points.
Having served as a Sanford City Councilor for eight years, I have seen firsthand how decisions made in Augusta directly affect local taxpayers. When the state fails to fully fund education, reduces revenue sharing, or imposes unfunded mandates, the burden disproportionately impacts local property taxpayers, families, and businesses. I will always consider the impact to Sanford on any decision that I make.
