Mainers' basic needs are not being met. Housing, food, livable wages, and access to health care are harder and harder to come by. As we head into winter, oil prices will be a major barrier to staying warm. When people worry about their basic needs, how can they be active, engaged members of their communities? These are some of the challenges facing Mainers right now.
I have been working with DHHS stakeholders and community members on the increase in Group Homes in Westbrook. Last year, new licensing requirements took effect, allowing more homes to open but also creating unintended consequences in some neighborhoods. I want to ensure residents receive the care they need and that communities and neighborhoods can handle these expansions.
This will be my 4th and final term if re-elected. During my time, I have worked hard on food insecurity, protections and support for EMS providers, and corrections initiatives.
