The challenges we had this time two years ago all remain, but now solving them has become even more difficult because everything costs so much more. Because we are the state most dependent on home heating oil and have lots of infrastructure to maintain, fuel costs are especially damaging to us. This affects the cost of housing, a key ingredient to bringing in new professionals to fill gaps across key fields like healthcare, childcare, trades, and teaching. Yes, there’s a lot of pressure on Maine coming from the terrible decisions made at the federal level. But that’s why we have 17 policy committees - that teamwork in partnership with the governor’s office is essential to triaging the damage and finding ways to make progress.
As one of our state's environmental leaders whose district suffered a major chemical spill in 2024, I will be resubmitting my bill to pay for PFAS testing, chemical filtration, toxin remediation, access to bottled water and, when possible, connection to public water districts. I will also be submitting legislation to make sure that when we win our legal battle against the PFAS manufacturers, any settlement money we get goes directly to helping PFAS victims and cleaning up our state.

On another Brunswick note, I will be supporting the major property tax relief efforts that could have prevented our town's revaluation efforts from being so painful across the board. This includes a constitutional amendment, tax code reform and direct relief.
My background is in journalism and in the Legislature itself. For almost a decade I served as a legislative aide, allowing me a front-row seat to both every policy problem facing Maine and a clear view of how to diagnose root causes, design legislation, and avoid classic pitfalls that routinely kill lawmakers’ bills. That’s how I passed nine new laws in my second term and had a hand in several more behind the scenes, making me one of the most productive Maine lawmakers over the last two years.

I’m also one of the most accessible legislators out there. When I’m not in Augusta, I’m nearly always right here in Brunswick, helping raise our two kids and regularly meeting or speaking with constituents and policy advocates across the state.
