Maine is becoming a harder place for people to hold onto the life they’ve worked for. From 2015 to 2024, median income rose 44%, while the income needed to afford the median-priced home jumped 187%. This is huge.

People are working hard and still losing ground. Young families can’t find homes, seniors are getting squeezed by property taxes and long drives for health care, and small businesses can’t find workers when those workers can’t afford to live nearby.

We need to get back to the basics: a home you can afford, a doctor you can actually get to, a decent job, strong schools, and a Maine our kids don’t have to leave to build a life.
Hope, Union, and Warren are working towns. People here build, fix, grow, and look out for their neighbors. But the math isn’t working for enough people anymore. Nearly one in three people in Knox County is 65 or older. Health care can mean a long drive, housing is harder to find, and property taxes keep going one direction. Farms and small businesses need workers, but workers need an affordable place to call home. I want to use the legislature to help solve those problems, working with our towns, not around them, and making sure rural communities have the tools and support they need to keep a good life going.
I’m not a career politician. I grew up in a union family in Bath, where my dad worked at BIW for 40 years. My own road has been a little less straight. I spent the first part of adulthood in various music projects, trained as an artisan cheesemaker while apprenticing and working on farms around Maine, helped out on my wife’s family dairy farm, and spent years buying lobster right off the boats and selling it directly to chefs.

Today, I work in marketing and sales at Union Farm Equipment, and I’ve served on the Warren Planning Board for eight years. I’ve worn a lot of hats, and I’ve learned something pretty simple along the way: when something breaks, arguing about whose fault it is doesn’t fix it. You figure out what needs doing and get to
