Maine's greatest challenge is affordability. Working families and seniors face rising housing costs, property taxes, electricity bills, and healthcare expenses. At the same time, we must attract and retain young workers, strengthen our economy, and respond to climate change. These challenges are interconnected. We need to invest in affordable housing, reliable transportation, education, workforce development, and an affordable energy transition. I believe Maine should prioritize these fundamental investments over expensive corporate tax incentives, while protecting our environment and ensuring our communities remain places where people of all ages can afford to live and thrive.
Scarborough and Gorham are experiencing tremendous growth, creating opportunities but also significant challenges. Residents are concerned about rising property taxes, housing affordability, traffic congestion, infrastructure demands, and protecting our natural resources. My priority is managing growth responsibly so existing residents aren't left paying the bill. That means investing in transportation, expanding housing opportunities, supporting our schools, and protecting our environment. I'm particularly concerned about seniors and longtime residents being priced out of the communities they helped build. Growth should benefit our communities, not come at their expense.
I grew up in Senate District 30 and have spent six years representing my hometown of Scarborough in the Maine House. I've worked across party lines to pass 25 bills addressing energy costs, government accountability, environmental protection, and our rights, including bipartisan legislation that will save Mainers $1.2 billion on our electricity bills. I've knocked on over 6,000 doors across Scarborough and Gorham because I believe effective representation starts with listening. I entered public service to bring a new generation of leadership focused less on partisan politics and more on delivering results. I want voters to know that I listen, show up, work across the aisle, and never forget who I work for.
