There are many challenges facing Mainers right now, like affordable healthcare, childcare and cost of living, but a high priority is housing. We are facing a housing crisis that impacts many areas of life in Maine. From making sure our seniors can age in their own home with dignity, to ensuring young families and workers have safe and affordable housing where it is needed near their places of work -- we need more housing to help build communities. Ultimately, these are compounding challenges, and we need to address each of them. Strong communities can support strong schools -- and the businesses in our communities depend on strong schools to thrive.
Specifically in my district, I want to see my neighbors thriving -- with strong community, enough to eat, and time to enjoy their families. When families have 2 working parents and still can't afford childcare or healthcare, we have a real problem.
I grew up in Maine, where I was taught to work hard and to care about my community. I will show up to work hard for everyone in our community, each and every day. I will do my best to work toward a Maine that is a place where people can access opportunity, earn a decent living and build a good life.
