State Representative District 23
Together, the House of Representatives and the Senate constitute the Connecticut General Assembly (CGA). The General Assembly enacts legislation dealing with state appropriations and finance, public welfare, the environment, public works, housing, education, civil and criminal laws, and other matters. The Senate tries all impeachments of executive and judicial branch officials. In Connecticut, members of the state’s legislative body, the General Assembly, must be at least eighteen years old and reside in the district they represent. Senate and House members serve two-year terms. Candidates were asked to respond to questions developed by local Leagues of Women Voters (LWV). Candidates enter their replies directly into Vote411, and replies are not edited by the LWV.This is the link to the CGA website: https://www.cga.ct.gov/To view sample ballots go to this website:- https://portal.ct.gov/sots/election-services/town-ballots/2026-november-town-election-ballots

I work as a conservator helping individuals with physical and mental health issues, oftentimes who have no family support. This work includes making health care decisions, managing finances and accessing social service benefits. I have served on the Old Saybrook Parks and Recreation Commission and currently serve on the Board of Education and as a Selectman on the Old Saybrook Board of Selectmen. I volunteered extensively in the community, creating the first ever elementary school Science Day and built up Safe Grad Night after Covid wiped out the bank account. Raised the money and created a whole new event for the graduates.
I fully support the Governor's plan to provide universal Pre-K and more affordable childcare options for families. I also believe we must continue to invest in alternative energy sources and greater transparency and oversight of utility companies to drive down the cost of electricity. I believe we need to expand access to CT Option and consider providing a public option to everyone to bring down health care costs. I support the Governor's initiative to increase state spending for special education to lower the burden on municipal governments and, of course, we must continue to build more transit-centric housing that is consistent with the look and feel of local communities.
I believe the greatest threat to Connecticut now is the current federal government. Just as we were investing in wind and solar to bring our electricity costs down, the federal government has repeatedly tried to shut down Revolution Wind. Just as we have made tremendous progress in building our rainy day fund and paying down pension debt, the federal government has cancelled Obamacare subsidies and moved people off SNAP and Medicaid. Connecticut has had to tap its own resources to assist our most vulnerable. Women's reproductive rights are being curtailed, Our immigrant neighbors and friends are being rounded up. Everywhere we turn, the federal government has become a hindrance to progress made or planned.
