Why am I running?
My goal as a 56 year resident and a 1975 graduate of Smyrna High School is to continue to make my hometown a place where our citizens do not have to feel the impact of tax increases, we’ve had none in 13 years and yet continue to enjoy our quality of life with an abundance of recreation, medical care, educational needs, and a plan that addresses infrastructure needs, affordable housing for our young families, and our continued need for 55+ residential housing for our senior families.
About Me
I am a blessed man to celebrate 45 years of marriage to my wife Connie. We met in Smyrna and have raised two adult kids, Amber & Adam now with families of their own, and six wonderful grandkids. My heart for our community stems all the way back to 1970 when my father retired here from the US Air Force with my mother who also served in the Air Force where they met. I learned from the very best about placing God first, family, and patriotism for our country. As an independent self employed businessman, I have also learned the value of hard work. I have learned how serving the community with respect is something that all of my kids/ grands will learn too. Connie & I are active 30 year members of Lifepoint Church in Smyrna.
As a councilman, or councilwoman, our main responsibility is to serve our citizens, make certain that we protect our community through law enforcement and fire safety. Quality of life amenities such as parks, recreation, medical and educational options are paramount, as well as keeping infrastructure in the forefront.This year we added 37 million dollars in our budget toward infrastructure alone. Our current council has worked extremely hard with the Governors office and TDOT for their assistance on State roads, such as Jefferson Pike widening, Sam Ridley widening, and have them focused on the Almaville (state route 102) exit (#70) and roadway. These state routes require TDOT’s approvals. It’s a team effort that we work well with.
As an incumbent, there are many working parts and plans that this council has been working hard to achieve. My goal in the next four years if re-elected will be to finalize many of these working plans. One of the biggest for me is our infrastructure. Several of our local roads and intersections are on the list to finalize. We must work in concert with slow moving state approvals. Our local budget this year alone placed 37 million for infrastructure needs in our budget. This includes roadways, sidewalks, and water & sewer improvements just to name a few. Another, finalize the start of state and federal highway improvements at I-24 choice lanes, Almaville Rd exit improvements, and a regional connector from Rocky Fork to Williamson/McEwen Dr.
It’s not a “how” question at this point. We are actively working with the State of Tennessee and TDOT, GNRC, and our state representatives and senators. These goals are now underway and we are excited that this long awaited achievement is moving ahead. The TDOT choice lanes projects on I-24 and the regional Rocky Fork Rd over to McEwen in Williamson County can begin construction during my next term. This has been a long and arduous process but the fruits of our labor are beginning to come to reality. Another note of interest is our ITS (Intelligent signalization system) that is just now launching. We have worked on this for years and it’s ready. This will help with back up congestion at manned & monitored signals throughout the city.

Why am I running?
I am running to serve the Town of Smyrna by putting its residents first.
About Me
I am a longtime Smyrna resident, husband, and father of five amazing sons.
A councilman’s first responsibility is to represent the people of Smyrna and put their interests first. I believe every decision should come back to one simple question: Is this good for Smyrna? That means listening to residents, protecting taxpayer dollars, supporting public safety, maintaining strong infrastructure, and making responsible decisions about growth. My commitment is to put Smyrna residents ahead of outside interests and protect the character and quality of life that make our town special.
My first goal is responsible growth that puts Smyrna residents first. We cannot continue adding density without considering the impact on our roads, traffic, public safety, infrastructure, and existing neighborhoods. My second goal is greater transparency and citizen engagement. I want residents to be better informed about the issues and decisions affecting our town, while creating more opportunities for citizens to get involved and become Smyrna’s next generation of leaders. Good government should invite people in, listen to new voices, and develop leaders who will continue putting Smyrna residents first for years to come.
I would listen to residents, ask tough questions, and always consider who benefits from the decisions before the Council. On growth, I would evaluate development based on its impact on traffic, infrastructure, public services, and existing neighborhoods, while pushing for infrastructure to keep pace. I would also work to keep residents better informed, encourage greater participation in town government, and create opportunities for new leaders to get involved. I will be an independent voice who puts Smyrna residents first, not outside interest, and always asks: Is this good for Smyrna?
