Two things prepare me to serve: my deep connection to FCSD 25 and my experience working with and listening to our community. I’m a Riverton native, RHS graduate and parent of three children who have attended our schools. I’ve also served our community through several board and committees, along with a career centered on communication and collaboration. I’m running because I value public education and want to give back to a community that has given my family so much. I want to listen, ask thoughtful questions and help ensure our community has a voice in its schools.
Equity doesn’t always mean giving every student the same thing; it means making sure every student has the opportunity and support they need to succeed. I believe the board should continually evaluate whether students have access to quality instruction, programs, resources and opportunities, while listening to the families, educators and students who experience our schools every day. FCSD 25 already provides services for students with differing needs, and we should continue asking where gaps exist and how we can address them responsibly.
Increasing graduation rates starts with identifying students who are struggling early and connecting them with the support they need to stay on track. We should also recognize that success after high school looks different for every student. Strong CTE and dual-enrollment opportunities, internships, career exploration, college preparation and military pathways can help students discover their strengths and see a meaningful future beyond graduation.
AI is already part of the world our students will enter, so schools have a responsibility to help them understand how to use it effectively, ethically and responsibly. It can be a valuable tool for learning and for educators, but it should support, not replace, critical thinking, creativity and the teacher-student relationship. Schools also need clear expectations around academic integrity, privacy and appropriate use. Our goal should be to prepare students to use AI thoughtfully while still developing the skills to think, question and create for themselves.
The most important issues include student achievement and graduation, recruiting and retaining strong teachers and staff, ensuring students are prepared for college, careers or military service, and using district resources responsibly. As FCSD 25 grows and plans for facilities such as the new elementary school, long-term planning is also important. Throughout those decisions, clear communication and meaningful opportunities for families, staff and community members to provide input are essential.
