I’m running because I believe every IPS student deserves a great education and every opportunity to succeed. As a former IPS educator and special education teacher, current instructional coach, and school leadership professional, I bring experience from the classroom, coaching, and leadership. I’m ready to use that experience to support students, educators, and strong schools.
We recruit quality teachers by building strong partnerships with teacher-preparation programs, expanding residency and apprenticeship pathways, and making IPS a place where educators want to grow. Retention starts with listening to teachers, competitive compensation, meaningful professional development, manageable workloads, strong school leadership, and opportunities for career growth. As an instructional coach, I know teachers stay where they feel supported, valued, and heard.
Student safety must include both physical and emotional well-being. We need safe, well-maintained buildings, clear safety procedures, strong relationships between students and adults, and consistent responses to bullying and unsafe behavior. We should also strengthen mental-health, SEL, restorative practices, and tiered supports so students receive help before challenges escalate. As an educator, I believe students learn best when they feel safe, supported, valued, and heard.
Balancing the budget starts with putting students first. I would prioritize funding for excellent instruction, teacher retention, special education, mental health, interventions etc. Before cutting classrooms, I would examine administrative costs, contracts, programs, and opportunities to improve efficiency. Every spending decision should be guided by data, student impact, and transparency. We have to be responsible stewards of public dollars while protecting the services students need most
Charter schools are part of Indianapolis’s public education system, and my focus is making sure every student has access to a high-quality education regardless of which public school they attend. I support collaboration between IPS and charter schools around transportation, facilities, special education, and student supports. I also support clear, consistent accountability and transparency, while allowing schools the flexibility to innovate. Our focus should remain on students.
Yes. I currently work at an innovation school, where I support students and educators in my professional role. I am also a former IPS educator, and my mother is a retired educator from Cincinnati Public Schools. My professional experience has been rooted in public education, and my commitment is to ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education and every opportunity to succeed.

My motivation to serve as an IPS School Board Commissioner is deeply rooted in my connection to this district and my commitment to children. I am an IPS graduate, a former IPS employee, and the parent of four children who graduated from IPS portfolio schools. I understand this district from multiple perspectives—as a student, parent, employee, community advocate, and now as a Commissioner.
I bring nearly four decades of experience serving children, families, and communities through education, p
Quality teachers are at the heart of student success. We must create an environment where educators feel valued, supported, respected, and heard. That includes competitive compensation, strong leadership, safe schools, and the resources they need to be successful.
As a Commissioner, I will continue to ensure our priorities and resources reflect our commitment to both our students and the teachers who serve them every day.
Student safety is more than securing our buildings. We must also address crime and violence in and around our schools while supporting students’ emotional well-being.
That means safe facilities, strong prevention efforts, mental health supports, trusted adults, and partnerships with families and community partners. Every student deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported at school.
Every student should have access to the resources needed to succeed. Limited resources require hard decisions, but students must remain at the center. I will prioritize quality teachers, strong academics, safe schools, mental health supports, transportation, and access to opportunities. I will continue asking the hard questions and ensuring our budget reflects what we value—every student, every school, and every community.
Charter schools are public schools, and every child within our district’s boundaries deserves access to a high-quality education. I support moving beyond an “us versus them” approach toward collaboration, transparency, and accountability. All schools receiving public funds should be accountable for student outcomes, financial stewardship, and equitable access. I also support legislative changes that remove barriers to collaboration and create an equitable public education system for all students
No. Neither I nor any member of my immediate family has a professional, financial, or organizational connection to a charter school or charter school organization. As a parent of four, I have used traditional public, charter, and Innovation Network Schools to meet the individual needs of my children. My connection is as a parent who believes families should have access to quality educational options that best support their children.

I’m seeking this position because I believe strong schools start with strong, accountable leadership that listens to families, supports educators, and keeps students at the center. As an IPS parent of three students, a military veteran, city employee, and community leader, I bring firsthand experience working with families, navigating public systems, and leading teams toward measurable results. My experience in education, government, and community engagement has prepared me to listen and lead.
We recruit and retain great teachers by making sure educators feel supported, respected, and equipped to do their jobs well. That means listening to teachers about what they need, reducing unnecessary burdens, investing in professional development and classroom resources, and creating a culture where educators can build a long-term career in IPS. As a board member, I’ll make supporting our educators a priority because when teachers are supported, our students benefit.
Student safety starts with safe buildings, reliable transportation, and school environments where every student feels seen and supported. I would prioritize clear safety standards, strong communication with families and educators, mental health and behavioral supports, and adequate staffing. We also need to listen to students and staff about what is happening in their schools and act quickly when concerns are raised.
I would start with the basics: protecting classroom instruction, supporting teachers, and maintaining safe, functional schools. Every dollar should have a clear purpose and measurable impact on students, and we should be willing to rethink spending that does not directly support those priorities. When new funding is available, I would prioritize areas with the greatest student need while being transparent with families and taxpayers about the choices we make.
I believe charter schools are part of Indianapolis’ public education landscape, and families should have meaningful choices for their children. At the same time, public dollars and resources should be distributed fairly and transparently, while ensuring IPS has what it needs to serve its students. I support collaboration between IPS and charter schools where it benefits students, with clear accountability for quality and outcomes.

With three kids in IPS and three degrees in education, I am committed to a sustainable school district where all children, regardless of ability or zip code, can thrive. I understand that traditional public schools are an essential part of strong communities, and they require community support to work efficiently. Coalition building and strategic thinking will be important as we work together to guarantee our children receive the best education. I have the experience to get the job done.
In collaboration with our teachers union, I will work to ensure teachers have the resources they need to achieve their classroom and professional goals. I also plan to look at teacher absenteeism to determine reasons why teachers are absent and make a plan for accommodation. Recognition is another way to attract and retain teachers. Not just by way of annual awards, but by recognizing every day activities. Through the development of a retention policy, the board can ensure we recognize teachers.
The first step for safety is having plenty of adults in the school building that care for students. The presence of respected adults can ensure safety measures are enacted. I also find social-emotional learning and care appropriate resources. Those resources should be available at all schools. Lastly, schools should serve as community hubs. Research shows communities are safer when schools are situated within them and if they allow residence access to community resources and activities.
My approach would be to work with the superintendent and chief financial officer to determine budget priorities and areas that to address. With input from the community we could cut areas that are less of a priority or find ways to save money in those areas. One thing that helps with budgeting is forecasting, which has been a difficult activity with enrollment variability. Therefore, there needs to be a moratorium on any new school development in the district so that the district can forecast.
I believe charter schools can act as partners with traditional public schools when they serve to fill gaps in the community and do not compete for resources. However, when charters deplete traditional school resources or compete for student enrollment, without proving academic success, they are not positively serving the community. Policies that evaluate the geography location, enrollment potential, financial stability, and academic success of charter schools are needed.
