I have 35+ years of law enforcement experience from the Marion County Sheriff's dept. and IMPD. My education includes a bachelor's degree from IUI, Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, and the FBI National Academy. I've been the elected Constable in Perry Township since 2010 and will continue to serve if re-elected with professionalism and high standards.
Constable's in Marion County are given law enforcement authority without being required to have any training. This is not only irresponsible but at times can be dangerous. It's not always knowing what to do, but what not to do is equally important.
I have continued to do in-service training through the Marion County Sheriff's training academy since 2015 even though my hours do not count towards any certification. This at least shows my effort in trying to keep my position professional.
I can only continue to mention this to legislators in hopes that some day this can be addressed.
My priorities include maintaining high standards for the office and providing expedient service for those who file. Constable duties are well defined and I'm not sure extra projects would be applicable.
