US House District 5 (SC)
The 5th Congressional District of South Carolina is a congressional district in northern South Carolina bordering North Carolina. The district includes all of Cherokee, Chester, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lee, Union and York counties and parts of Newberry, Spartanburg and Sumter counties.The House consists of 435 single-member districts. The number of representatives per state is proportionate to population. Representatives must be at least 25 years old, a United States citizen for at least seven years, and resident of South Carolina. Among other duties, representatives introduce bills and resolutions, offer amendments, and serve on committees. Term: 2 years

Brief Intro - 250 characters
I'm a mother, the wife of a teacher and a former executive in the fashion industry. I'm running to put people before politics, restore common sense to Congress and find bipartisan solutions to the challenges working people in SC face today.
At a time when Washington DC desperately needs less conflict and more cooperation, I'll bring a unique blend of negotiating skills and non partisan advocacy to the job. During my career in the private sector I negotiated complex contracts between parties with conflicting interests so that everyone came away feeling like a winner. As a co-founder of Community Advocates for Public Education I brought people together to safeguard public schools in my area. I'm not a career politician; I'm a creative problem-solver who understands both boardroom and kitchen table budget. Most of all I'm ready and eager to serve. I'll work harder for the people of District 5 than anyone ever has!
My first priority is to tackle the cost of living emergency so many South Carolinians are facing, from groceries and gas to housing, health care and child care. That includes focusing on policies that bring inflation down and addressing the unnecessary tariffs that have driven costs up. I'll also support restoring cuts to the ACA and medicare and raising the minimum wage. My second priority is to enact government reform measures like term limits, prohibiting members of Congress from trading stocks, ending partisan gerrymandering and limiting the role of big money in our politics. Third priority is to protect public education funding and keep our schools free from political interference.
Like so many Americans I have a deep appreciation for the work of the League of Women Voters to encourage education around public policy and full participation in our electoral process and democracy itself. Keep up the good work!
