The mayor’s job is to serve the people and help lead the city in a responsible direction. To me, that means working with the City Council, city employees, department heads, first responders, businesses, and, most importantly, the residents of Maumelle.
A mayor should listen, ask questions, and make informed decisions that consider both today’s needs and the future of our city. The job involves helping ensure our city is financially responsible, our public safety departments have the support they need, our infrastructure is properly maintained, and that growth and development are handled in a way that protects what makes Maumelle a great place to live.
I also believe the mayor should be accessible to the people.
Throughout my life, I have had opportunities to lead, work with people from different backgrounds, manage responsibilities, solve problems, and bring people together toward a common goal. Those experiences have taught me that good leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about listening, asking the right questions, learning from knowledgeable people, and making decisions with honesty and common sense. I care deeply about Maumelle and its future. I genuinely enjoy talking with people and hearing different points of view. As mayor, I won’t pretend to know everything, but I will work hard to understand the issues, listen to those affected by decisions, and do what I believe is right for Maumelle.
One of the first things I want to improve is communication and accessibility between City Hall and the people of Maumelle. Residents should feel informed about what is happening in their city and have opportunities to ask questions and share concerns before major decisions are made. Too often, people feel they don’t know what is happening until decisions are already underway. As mayor, I want to strengthen the connection between city leadership and residents through better communication, more opportunities for public input, and a commitment to listening. Good leadership isn’t simply telling people what has been decided—it means listening whenever possible. My goal is a city government where people know their voices matter.
