In the Council-Manager form of government, the Mayor has the same powers and responsibilities granted by law on any member of Council. In addition, he establishes the agenda and serves as the presiding officer at Town Council meetings, represents the Town at official and ceremonial functions; calls special meetings or workshops of Town Council. The mayor also executes all contracts, deeds, ordinances, resolutions, proclamations and other instruments not designated to the Town Manager, after review and approval by Council.

Manage growth responsibly, protect neighborhoods and the environment, address traffic and infrastructure, and make sure development doesn’t overwhelm HH.

Strengthen the Town’s relationship with BCSO, tackle the 278 traffic issues, address workforce needs based on facts, engage younger residents, prepare for the future.
I support expanding workforce housing without lowering the standards that protect Hilton Head.
I would focus on three things: determining the actual housing needs of our workforce, creating public-private partnerships with major employers first and only after that, responsible developers, and prioritizing redevelopment of appropriate existing properties before adding density or consuming more land.
Any workforce housing solution must protect our trees, environment, neighborhood character, and architectural standards.
We don’t need to choose between supporting our workforce and protecting Hilton Head. We need smarter partnerships and better planning.
We need to plan ahead rather than pay more later because we failed to prepare.
I would prioritize infrastructure investments based on risk and need, including stormwater, drainage, roads, shoreline protection, and other areas vulnerable to flooding and sea-level rise.
At the same time, we should aggressively pursue federal, state, county, and other outside funding rather than placing the entire burden on Hilton Head taxpayers.
Finally, we need greater discipline in Town spending; prioritizing needs over wants and requiring measurable results from every major investment.
Protecting our Island and protecting taxpayers should go hand in hand.
