My professional experience, my understanding of Penfield, and my approach to working with people make me uniquely qualified to serve as Town Supervisor. I’ve spent more than 30 years managing organizations, developing programs, solving problems and working with people who are facing various challenges. I know how to listen, how to work with people who don’t agree, and how to take complicated problems and find a way forward. I have a lot of experience managing people, budgets and projects. I know how important it is to build a good team, hold people accountable and make thoughtful decisions. I also bring a strong connection to Penfield. I care deeply about this community. At the same time, I understand that we have to be willing to address the challenges we face and plan for the future while protecting the things that make Penfield special. I’ve listened to residents, improved communication, made Town government more accessible and been willing to look at things differently.
Improving road, traffic and pedestrian safety. Keeping property taxes low while maintaining quality Town services. Managing growth and development responsibly. Protecting Penfield’s character, neighborhoods and quality of life. Creating more attainable housing for young families, seniors and working residents.
I would like to see a significant improvement in road, traffic and pedestrian safety. I would accomplish this by taking a more comprehensive, data-driven approach to identifying and addressing our most dangerous roads and intersections. That means continuing to work closely with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the County and State on traffic enforcement, analyzing crash and traffic data, improving signage and road design where appropriate, and expanding sidewalks, crosswalks and other pedestrian safety measures. I also want to continue listening directly to residents about the places where they feel unsafe. Our Active Transportation Plan and safety approach can help us identify both immediate improvements and longer-term projects. The goal is not simply to react after an accident occurs. It is to identify problems before someone gets hurt and make Penfield safer for everyone, including drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, children walking to school and older residents.
I would like to see targeted changes to Penfield’s zoning regulations that encourage responsible development while protecting the character of our existing neighborhoods. I would like to make it easier to create attainable housing for young families, seniors and working residents, including accessory dwelling units, smaller homes and appropriately located multifamily and mixed-use housing. I also support making better use of vacant or underutilized commercial properties rather than continually expanding development into undeveloped areas. Development should be guided by the capacity of our roads, sewers, utilities and other infrastructure. My goal is not more development simply for the sake of development. It is smart, well-planned growth that adds housing and economic vitality while protecting Penfield’s neighborhoods, character and quality of life.
