My vision is to strengthen pathways to student success while building a strong, locally rooted workforce pipeline that helps rural communities grow, thrive, and flourish for generations to come. My experience bridges higher education, k-12 program leadership, workforce and community partnerships, and direct work with students and families, giving me a broad perspective on how education can create opportunity and strengthen the communities it serves.
Higher education faces changing enrollment patterns, retention and completion rates, rising affordability pressures, and the rapid emergence of AI. Colleges must adapt while maintaining academic quality, demonstrating the value of their programs, and ensuring students are prepared for a work environment that is constantly moving and updating. We need to strengthen student support, have flexible and affordable options, and align with regional workforce needs.

My record reflects that I have served as a transformative leader committed to empowering our community to improve lives through education. I have focused on strengthening educational pathways and academic success from preschool through post high school educational opportunities. I would bring to Mid-Michigan College Board of Trustees a broad range of experience, community understanding, understanding of educational pathways, boardmanship, and community service.
Commitment: Mid-Michigan College can help high school students by building an earlier presence in schools through academic opportunities, counseling, and examples of student success. Access: Mid-Michigan College can create seamless pathways through career exploration, job shadowing, internships, and programs that connect high school students to the college. Proven Pipeline to a Career: Strengthen career pathways by partnering with local Chambers of Commerce to align programs with workforce needs
Background/experience I have a broad background in professional work from field geologist to construction management. These experiences include managing employees, equipment, budgets and schedules. I currently am the Secretary of the current Mid trustee Board.
Education B.S. Geology, M.S. Civil Engineering, Jurisdiction Doctorate
My past experience required me to work with the Broward County, FL Board of County Commissioners. Through my interactions, I learned process, procedures and ethics of working with a Board. Currently, I was appointed as a trustee for MidMichigan College in June 2026 and became the Secretary of the Board in August 2026. I also have been appointed to the Facility Assessment committee, where my extensive construction experience will help guide facility assessment and development.
I believe the greatest challenge to education is the high cost. I will work with the Board to ensure that the funds received by Mid will be used efficiently and effectively in order to maximize its use. The next highest challenge is to attract future students. With population shifting, competition from other schools and enrollment declining, it requires vision to develop curriculums that address future job markets.
