Unlike children I typically was a lead for adults, whether a bay leader in the military, or team lead in a previous job (both in the past). I have also previously volunteered at both Fancher and Ganiard but watching from an outside perspective as a community member that is not bias with the right goal for the schools. The board itself needs to be thought as a group and not an individual. I also previously worked with adults and mental health therapy.
Bullying and mental health. We need to create more resources to coincide and work with both issues. I actually want to hear from the students. Consistently we question parents but don't give kids the same ability to just speak or suggest something.

I am currently an appointed board member (Aug. 2026) to December 2026. I also previously served on the board from July 2023 to December 2024. During my time on the previous board and now, I am heavily involved with the Michigan Association of School Boards. I received an Award of Merit from the association and a Finance Certification. I have put in over 30 hours of instruction through the MASB to learn more about being an strong board member.
I feel some of the most significant for Mount Pleasant are: strong state funding, retaining our current families, and keeping high academic standards. As a board member, I will assist in making sure that we are receiving all state funding available through grants and other income streams. With strong academics, we will be able to retain our current families and attract new families. As a board member, I will work to support strong academic initiatives through funding and resource support.

I was an elementary teacher for 15 years, and the last 11 were for the MPPS district! This experience has given me a deep understanding of the district's inner workings and has kept some working relationships open with many educators and leaders in the district. I have a good understanding of what issues all stakeholders in the district are facing, what they have done, and what they are planning to do to help make education more successful for all!
There is so much political pressure from the current government to roll back DEI policies that it is difficult to continue efforts to make our schools better and safer places for all to learn, teach, and thrive. Though it is important to comply with government education initiatives, we must continue to center our teachers' and students' well-being needs as integral to their success! We must continue to support our teachers and families and build those relationships that will support our students
