I am running for DeWitt County Judge because DeWitt County deserves a real choice. I stepped forward out of civic duty not political ambition. Dewitt County deserves someone who can step into the role and on day one start doing the job that needs to be done. We’ve been sitting on GLO grant money that’s been there since Hurricane Harvey. I’m not leaving any money on the table not when it’s meant for the citizens of Dewitt County. These funds are for road repairs, flood mitigation, drainage improvements, erosion control, and major water/wastewater infrastructure upgrades.
We can begin by treating creeks and floodplains as assets not obstacles and by having natural drainage instead of concrete everywhere. Every major project should ask: what does this do to our water- quality, quantity, and flooding. And it’s important that we measure outcomes not just how much we have spent.
The number one issue residents raise in our rural communities are the poor road conditions, then we need to address the washouts after storms, lack of proper drainage, and the heavy truck traffic damaging rural roads.

De Witt County is home. It is where Samantha and I were raised, where so much of who we are was formed, and where we chose to return to raise our three daughters in hopes that they may one day choose to do the same. The communities of De Witt County invested in us long before we could ever give anything back. I am running for De Witt County Judge because I believe my professional experience, capabilities, and perspective can be put to work for the county that helped shape who I am. I want to do my part for De Witt County and for all of the people who, like me, are proud to call it home.
De Witt County should welcome growth, but at all times in a manner that respects private property rights and ensures that such growth can be achieved without sacrificing the quality of life that leads people to make De Witt County their home and a place where all in De Witt County can comfortably and safely live, work, and raise their families. This requires thoughtful and transparent planning, as well as constant diligence, to anticipate and manage, in a fiscally responsible manner, long-term impacts on county infrastructure and ongoing capabilities and readiness of essential county services.
Included among my priorities are ensuring county government is accessible, transparent, and communicative; maintaining strong law enforcement, fire protection, and emergency management capabilities and resources; proactively and responsibly improving and maintaining county infrastructure; and ensuring we not only address today's needs and challenges, but also thoughtfully anticipate those ahead. In my conversations across De Witt County, I continue to hear the importance of transparency, communication, responsible spending, and public safety, among other issues.
