Biographical Information

1. Please provide biographical information and explain why you are running for School Board and relevant qualities and skills you would bring to the position that you are running for.

What are the top three (3) priority issues facing your school district, and what actions would you take to address them if elected to the school board?

I am a parent, attorney, community volunteer, and current Oxford Community Schools Board trustee. As a judicial staff attorney, I bring strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and experience navigating complex issues and difficult conversations. I am running for re-election because I fiercely believe in public education and our responsibility to put students first. My Board service has focused on effective governance, student achievement, fiscal stewardship, safety, transparency, and rebuilding trust. Oxford has invested in my development through MASB trainings and conferences, and I am committed to putting that knowledge to work for our district. I bring steady, collaborative leadership grounded in listening, accountability, respectful dialogue, and consensus-building. Important work remains, and I am not finished serving. I would be honored to continue putting my experience, training, and passion to work for Oxford’s students - - putting students first, every decision, every day.
Oxford Community Schools’ top three priorities are addressing our serious capital and facility needs without bond or sinking-fund resources, continued implementation of the Strategic Plan, and continuing the healing necessary to strengthen student achievement.

1. We need decisive, responsible leadership to protect classroom resources while addressing aging facilities, safety, security, technology, and other long-term needs.

2. We must continue to strengthen and translate the Strategic Plan into measurable progress and hold ourselves accountable for results.

3. Most importantly, improved academic achievement must remain central to our efforts for continued healing by ensuring every student feels safe, supported, connected, and heard.
I am a retired educator with over 30 years of experience as a teacher, building administrator and coach in both public and parochial school settings in Saginaw County. In addition, I have had the opportunity to serve as an adjunct faculty member as Saginaw Valley State University for the College of Education and Department of English. Working with and learning from students to understand them as individuals in an effort to help them gain self confidence and become successful in their personal educational journey has been my vocation and passion. It is with this same zeal that intend to serve the students of Oxford, giving them the best opportunity to gain personal and long term success through a quality education.
In short, our district's primary concerns are funding, school security and a strong educational base for all of our students. Students are the main focus for the school district and the concerns I have listed are in the early stages of being addressed. Oxford Community Schools in partnership with community residents, local leaders, businesses and students has developed a strategic plan to meet these needs. This plan has defined goals supported by sound educational practices and able to be assessed with clear metrics. It is my intent to work closely with all of our stakeholders to meet the goals that have been developed. We are still a community in the process of healing and I feel the plan that has been put in place will help us in the process. The board of education needs to clearly communicate these needs and results to build new trust within the community so we may give our students the best opportunities to create a successful future for themselves.

I am a parent of two students in the district and the spouse of a district employee which has inherently kept me directly connected to our school community over the last decade. Our district benefits from board members who are invested in the well-being and success of our students. I know I can bring that commitment consistently. I can commit the time, energy, and thoughtfulness that this role requires and I would find the work meaningful and purposeful.

I have been a Doctor of Physical Therapy for 20 years. That role has required me to be analytical and goal-oriented, while also being an educator, a listener, and an encourager. Most importantly, it has taught me to remain focused on the person in front of me—even when resources are limited or there are competing priorities. Within my career, I value clearly defined roles, goals, policies, and procedures and enjoy developing/improving those systems. I have Board experience happily serving with the NOCC for over a year.
1. Our district is desperate for homeostasis and continuity. We have faced some very big and very important matters to tackle and the key players keep changing. An environment where people feel supported to do their best work and want to stay is vital. Using our strategic plan as a compass for our values, the district and community can work collectively for success toward our common goals, creating more focused direction, pride and ownership.

2. Community access to information. I would work toward providing easier and more complete access to data in effort to answer calls for transparency. It would also be worth investigating what can be made more visible that currently takes extra time, effort and energy to access.

3. Community involvement. A strong cohesive community builds strong schools. I would invite everyone, particularly critical voices, to actively participate in the betterment of our schools. There is a role suitable for everyone, I’d hope to facilitate that.
I am an Electrification, Charging, and Energy Storage Technical Lead Engineer, helping develop and bring electric vehicles to production. My automotive career began as a Chrysler technician before I founded and operated my own repair business. I later worked in advanced vehicle development, including prototype builds and production support for the 2005-2006 Ford GT. I hold a patent in autonomous vehicle technology, with three patents pending. I also earned two associate degrees from Oakland Community College, graduating summa cum laude.

I am running because our community deserves leadership that listens, values every voice, and makes decisions with transparency and accountability. Parents, students, educators, and residents should have meaningful input before decisions are made. My goal is to ensure respectful dialogue, open communication, and proper governance while giving Oxford families a stronger voice in shaping the future of our schools.
Financial Accountability — Our district’s financial decisions must be transparent, responsible, and clearly communicated to the public. Taxpayer dollars should be managed with care, clarity, and oversight. • Leadership & Administrative Accountability — Past decisions made by district leadership must be evaluated honestly. We need accountability for outcomes, performance, and the long‑term impact of administrative choices. • Educational Performance Accountability — Student achievement and educational outcomes must be measured, understood, and improved. Our district must be accountable for delivering strong, effective education that prepares students for success.
I am a husband, parent of two Oxford graduates, Operations Manager, and Oxford community member. My strengths include understanding and analyzing data, bringing logic and reason to any topic, being an active and compassionate listener, and maintaining kindness and level-headedness. I moved to Oxford as a teenager and moved back with my wife when we got married. I am OHS class of ’95 and she is class of ’94. Our first date was her senior prom right here in Oxford!

My oldest graduated from Oxford in ’22, MSU in ’25, and Columbia University in ’26. My youngest graduated from Oxford in ’23 and is a senior at Alma College. Oxford schools directly helped them achieve their goals and I believe every student deserves that opportunity. I say all that to show that I love Oxford and I am running because I believe our students need someone truly looking out for them. I will work to put students first, listen to students, parents, and our community, and lead with transparency and accountability.
The primary focus should always be academic achievement. We need a strategic plan to return Oxford to being a top district. We must hold parents accountable for student attendance and guide students to use technology as an aid, not a crutch by exploring a return to low-tech methods for foundational subjects like reading, writing, and math while still allowing students to use technology to enrich their learning, not replace it. We must address the district’s financial needs. No one likes taxes, and I support eliminating waste and increasing accountability, but Oxford must be properly funded to meet student needs and manage safety, infrastructure, and technology. Oxford deserves a school board that works with the district while still holding it accountable. Our community was greatly impacted by the tragedy. We must continue healing while encouraging students to excel using a trauma informed approach that shows they are heard and cared for, while maintaining clear academic expectations.
