I have lived in Holly for 9 years. My children attend Holly schools. I am a Gold Star mother, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a master’s degree in counseling, and the owner of Gold Star Counseling. I served 2 years on the Village Council as President Pro Tem, before being elected Village President in 2024. I also served 5 years as President of the Holly Township Library Board, have served on the Village Ethics Committee since 2023, and joined the Oakland County Citizens Advisory Council in 2025. I am seeking reelection because Holly needs a sustainable, publicly vetted financial plan that protects police, fire, DPW, and other essential services while addressing our aging infrastructure. My counseling, business, and municipal experience have strengthened my ability to listen, manage conflict, analyze information, oversee budgets, and make difficult decisions. I will continue to lead transparently, base decisions on facts, and protect Holly’s historic, family-centered character.
Financial sustainability:Holly’s revenue is not keeping pace with the cost of services. I will continue working toward a publicly vetted, sustainable financial plan, evaluate restructuring and revenue options, including cityhood, and protect police, fire, and DPW from shortsighted cuts.
Aging infrastructure:Our roads and water and sewer systems require investment. I will prioritize projects through a capital improvement plan, pursue every grant and funding opportunity, and support rates and funding strategies without placing unnecessary burdens on residents.
Responsible development:Holly needs growth that strengthens the tax base without sacrificing its historic character or established neighborhoods. I will support appropriately located housing and commercial development, oppose data centers and incompatible projects, and make zoning decisions that place residents and neighborhoods ahead of outside developers. I will ensure major decisions are discussed publicly and based on evidence.
I hold an MBA in marketing with certifications in project management, Google Analytics, and Lean Six Sigma. I began working retail at 16 and climbed the ladder while attending school. At one point I was a full-time store manager and a full-time student. After college, I built a business that evolved from photography into journalism. While unconventional, each experience has strengthened my ability to understand budgets and operations, research complex issues, and communicate clearly. Today, I am publisher of The Holly Post and serve on the DDA Design Committee. For years, I have attended local meetings, researched public records, and worked to hold local leaders accountable. My work now extends past Holly. I travel to other communities to uncover what elected officials are doing behind closed doors. I am running for Village President to bring those skills to the community and provide transparent, fiscally responsible leadership that puts the people first.
1. Transparency: It's not just a campaign slogan. Being transparent means making government accessible and understandable. I would provide plain-language explanations of major decisions, improve access to public records, and make it easier for residents to see where their money is going.
2. Planning & Budgeting: Too often, the Village operates out of emergency instead of planning ahead. We need long-term planning for our finances and infrastructure to anticipate needs, prioritize projects, and spend taxpayer dollars responsibly - that includes a comprehensive plan on how to tackle water rates and upgrades.
3. Culture: Political disagreements should never become personal battles. For too long, leadership has spent time going after political opponents instead of working on the issues that matter. I will respect every resident, including those who disagree with me, and focus our time and resources on solving problems.
