Biographical Information

Provide biographical information and explain why you are running for village council and relevant qualities and skills you would bring to the position.

What are the top three (3) priority issues facing your village, and what actions would you, as a village official, take regarding each of them?

I am a semi- retired CPA and want to serve the community in which I have lived for seven years. I have been on the Michigan CPA Association, ethics and insurance committee. I have been an officer and a president of the Michigan Accountants Guild. I have also been on nonprofit religious Board of Directors and committees as an officer and also president. I was a CFO for a steel processing company for over 11 years. In that capacity, I was responsible for the financial operation and budgets. Prior to that I was a partner in a large regional CPA firm that merged with one of the national firms. I am married and have five adult children and 12 grandchildren, 9 of them reside within 20 minutes of our home.
1) Maintain the beauty of our community by preventing overdevelopment. 2) Fiscal and budgetary responsibility. I would analyze the revenue and expenses of our Village on a daily and annual basis. The goal would be budgetary compliance. 3) Limit or avoid tax increases to reduce financial burden on our citizens.
1, I am running for Village Council Trustee to continue serving as a valued, contributing member of the Village. 2, I have a combined 35 years of experience being Chairman of both the Planning Commission and Design Review Board. 3. I am currently a Trustee and President Pro Tem on the Bingham Farms Village Council and served as a member of the Roads Committee that came up with an equitable way to fund road projects. 4. I'm also a member of the Franklin, Bingham Farms Fire Dept. Strategic 5-year Planning Committee to ensure the Village has a viable and fiscally responsible department. 5. I have a proven track record of working with people to achieve results.

1. To continue to work with the Franklin/Bingham Fire Department to create a 5-year plan to keep the department solvent and relevant to our community, seeking efficiencies and other sources of funding besides the Village tax base. 2. To work diligently to provide residents of Bingham Farms the necessary public services while maintaining a workable tax base. 3. To improve Village communications to its residents by expanding the Village newsletter to include current issues and pertinent information for upcoming meetings and utilizing eblast more efficiently.
I’ve been a resident of Bingham Farms since 1979. My career spanned 31 years as a medical device sales rep and manager. I learned quickly as a young rep the importance of thorough preparation for each hospital meeting, product knowledge, problem solving, and plan execution. I believe these skills equipment me to represent the residents in our community, protect the natural beauty that surrounds us, and make sure all developments, both resident and commercial, adhere to our ordinances.
1. Roads: we’ve learned road maintenance is an ongoing activity and having an Advisory Road Committee to monitor conditions and schedule repairs early will save the village money. 2. Lack of engagement with our residents: we have residents with amazing skills, work experience, education and credentials that we can benefit from. Creating volunteer resident advisory committees could be an effective means to utilize these skill sets. 3. Police Department and Fire Department annual budget increases: our council representatives have met with the Fire Commission and agreed to write a five year plan. This will provide the necessary information needed to budget for state of the art Public Safety for the Villages of Franklin and Bingham Farms.
