I am a 30+ year resident of Clarkston. I served on City Council for 7 years, and as the Mayor for 3 years. I want to continue to bring my years of experience to help the City.
The biggest priority is the increase in expenses that the City is facing, especially law enforcement and fire protection. The City contracts with Independence Township for law enforcement from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department. Oakland County increased what they charge Independence Township for Sheriff services and as a result, the City’s share of the services have increased. While, revenue to the City has increased, it has not kept up with the increased safety services costs. As a result, the City has a safety millage on the ballot for the November 3 election to help pay for this increase.
