I have loved the work we've done during my first term and I look forward to another term helping this essential part of our community grow.
On top of my previous 4 years on the Board, I am a father who loves to take his daughters to the library. I am also a Lead Daycare Teacher at Tot Spot. In this capacity I plan to utilize multiple library resources in our classroom every week.
I would say our Library of Things Collection, especially Wi-Fi hotspots, our electronic resources such as ebooks and audiobooks, and all of our amazing programming. This is all above and beyond our great staff and the physical resources they curate for the Brighton community.
I am a father in an active family. We love supporting our local shops and attending as many events together as possible. I am also a Lead Teacher at Tot Spot in a 3 year old classroom. Even though it is my job, I absolutely love helping our future community leaders grow and partnering with families to reach the best outcomes.

I am seeking a position on the Brighton District Library Board because I believe strongly in the role public libraries play in creating stronger, more connected communities. More than a place to borrow books, a library is where people can learn, access technology and information, discover new interests, connect with others, and find resources they might not otherwise have. After 45 years working in public libraries, I have seen how libraries respond to changing community needs while maintaining their commitment to literacy, lifelong learning, intellectual freedom, and equitable access. My experience substituting at the Brighton District Library has made me more familiar with the Library, its patrons, and the community it serves. I would be honored to contribute my experience, perspective, and commitment to public libraries to the Brighton District Library Board and help ensure the Library remains responsive to the community for years to come.
My background combines 45 years of public library experience, community engagement, fundraising, and nonprofit development. In various roles at Farmington Community Library, I've seen library services from both the staff and patron sides — collections, programming, technology, outreach, and customer service. As Business & Nonprofit Development Director, I've built on that foundation with grant writing, sponsorship development, donor relations, and partnerships across businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, and community organizations — work focused on connecting local resources to strengthen library services.
I understand a Board member's role is governance, not day-to-day management, and I'd bring this experience while respecting the expertise of the Library Director and staff. As a Board member, I can offer a practical perspective from my library background and long-time residency to support long-range planning that meets the community's evolving needs.
The most important library services are those that provide people with access to information, education, and technology, as well as opportunities to connect with their community. This includes offering both physical and digital collections; early literacy and children’s programming; services for teens and adults; access to and assistance with technology; lifelong learning; and resources that support families, entrepreneurs, and older adults. Accessibility and outreach are also increasingly important. Libraries need to meet people where they are through community partnerships, digital resources, programs, and services for those who may have difficulty physically accessing the Library. Ultimately, I believe the Library’s most important roles are to listen to the community and adapt to its changing needs. A strong public library evaluates its collections, programs, technology, and services to ensure they remain relevant, accessible, and responsive to the people it serves.
With four decades of public service, I have served patrons of all ages and backgrounds and connected communities to vital resources. I currently bring this experience to both the Farmington Community Library, where I direct business and nonprofit development, and the Brighton District Library, where I serve as a substitute. Substituting at the Brighton District Library allows me to interact directly with local patrons, collaborate with staff, and stay deeply connected to this community's needs. I would be honored to serve on the Brighton District Library Board and support the Library's future with my professional experience. As a long-term resident, I would ensure the Library remains responsive to our community's needs and continues to grow in the future.
