As a parent of three children in Grass Lake Schools, School Board decisions matter deeply to me. I stay involved—volunteering, supporting teachers, and showing up whenever needed. I'm grateful to raise my kids in a community with great families, dedicated educators, and shared pride in our schools. I bring nearly 30 years of experience in management, finance, higher education, and fundraising—skills that are essential for overseeing our budget, evaluating performance, and executing strategic plans. I'll bring both empathy and accountability to every decision, ensuring our children can thrive and Grass Lake Schools maintain a reputation for excellence.
My top priorities are maintaining academic excellence, recruiting and retaining great teachers, and ensuring fiscal transparency and sustainability. I'm also focused on preparing our schools for the future and fostering strong community engagement—because thriving schools depend on all of us working together.
If funding decreases, my priority is protecting the classroom experience for our students—ensuring resources for teaching and learning remain strong—while still balancing the need to invest in the future of our schools.
Grass Lake is a wonderful community, and every family should feel their child belongs and can thrive in our schools. I would work to ensure this by supporting engagement opportunities that encourage family involvement, and by advocating for clear, transparent, and timely communication with families and within our community.
Technology isn't going away, so our approach should be thoughtful integration with appropriate guardrails. I'd prioritize student understanding of online consequences, mental health protection, and parent resources for home conversations. I'd support clear, enforced cyberbullying policies and uphold Michigan's device-use restrictions. As AI evolves, it's essential to weigh the risks and opportunities to thoughtfully bring appropriate AI tools into our classrooms.
