The South Carolina House of Representatives consists of 124 part-time citizen legislators elected every two years to represent our state s 124 separate single-member districts. Representatives are elected at-large by their district, and there are no term limits. Representatives must be 21 years of age before they are eligible to become a representative. As outlined by South Carolina s Constitution, the General Assembly s annual session begins on the second Tuesday in January and runs through the second Thursday in May.

First of all, I support hate crime laws. I also believe that racial profiling is enabled by the 287g agreement between local law enforcement and ICE. I am against this and will do whatever I can to stop this in Beaufort Cty and make sure it doesn't became state law.
I support the funding of agencies, businesses and schools/universities that promote Diversity,Equity and Inclusion.
I am against gerrymandering mid-decade for political purposes as this is geared towards disenfranchising the minority voters. I support mail in voting and making voting for everybody accessible as is our constitutional right.
I believe in not taking away the rights of the marginalized and will support ratifying the ERA, and support the LGBTQ
community.
Public funding is for public schools and must not be diverted to the private schools or home schooling. Money is needed to provide competitive pay to the teachers and paras, and to fund the schools so they have the resources to meet the needs of all students, regardless of abilities, disabilities, or socioeconomic status.
Early development and learning is especially important and I believe in free universal pre-k.
The state must be willing to work with the individual local districts and stakeholders to meet the different needs of the areas- whether that includes transportation issues, broadband and technology, or providing free meals.
South Carolina appears to be one of the worst states for women's equality whether it's regarding pay or whether it's being in leadership positions. My becoming a legislator will be a first step! We must have women in positions of power and be part of the decision-making processes that affect a large part of South Carolina's population!
Women's healthcare must be decided by the women affected and the medical experts, not by legislators making blanket decisions about women's healthcare and medications. We must continue to fund programs like planned parenthood that provide information, education, and medical assistance to those that need it or might otherwise make uninformed decisions ,or worse, lose their lives.
Medicaid must be expanded to meet the needs of those who cannot afford the high cost of insurance but do not quite meet the threshold for medicaid. I believe in expanding the ACA subsidies and having a healthcare option for all along with employer insurance options. We must have ob-gyns in all areas and not force women to leave the state for medical attention. In 14 of 46 counties in SC, there were no practicing OB-GYN doctors. We must have accessible mental health care as well.
