I would describe the duties of a Springdale City Council member as representing the people of Springdale and helping make responsible decisions about the city’s future. Council members review and vote on ordinances, budgets, development and land-use matters, infrastructure projects, and other issues that affect city services and quality of life. They also provide oversight of city government, work with the mayor, city staff, and fellow council members, and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly. Most importantly, the job requires listening to residents, understanding their concerns, and making decisions that serve the best interests of the entire community.

I bring experience in community engagement, communication, relationship building, and public service. Through my professional work and volunteer involvement, I regularly work with businesses, schools, nonprofits, community leaders, and residents across Springdale. I have also spent significant time attending city meetings and learning how local government works. These experiences have taught me to listen, ask thoughtful questions, bring people together, and find practical solutions. I believe those skills, along with my commitment to being accessible and accountable, will help me serve Springdale effectively on the City Council.

My first priority will be continuing to improve the quality of life for everyone who calls Springdale home. As our city grows, we need to make sure our infrastructure, parks, trails, transportation, public safety, and city services grow with it. I will work with residents, city staff, community organizations, and fellow council members to identify needs, plan responsibly, and invest taxpayer dollars where they can have the greatest impact. I want Springdale’s growth to create more opportunities while protecting the character and community that make our city a great place to live.

The City Council is responsible to the citizens to debate and vote on local ordinances, and resolutions. Ordinances are laws where resolutions are more formal decisions such as approval of an expenditure that was included in the budget that was adopted by the council. The City Council reviews and adopts that city budget, which typically includes COLA adjustments for City employees. The City Council is responsible for hearing appeals of decisions made by Boards and Commissions, such as the Planning Commission. Another important role of the council is to appoint citizens to serve on Boards and Commissions of the city government. The Council approves Land Use Plans, Master Street Plans, and if Issue 3 passes, make economic development decision

I am a business leader and community builder with construction experience vital to evaluating the infrastructure decisions that lie before us as we endure hyper growth throughout the region. I'm close to the community, serving on the boards of the NWA Food Bank, American Red Cross, Art Center of the Ozarks and Downtown Springdale Alliance since arriving in 2009. I've grown a business from 2 employees to 26 starting in '19. Springdale needs a transparent leader who will ask hard questions after thorough research. That's how I built the business, that's how I will represent Springdale. I can get people to the table to find common ground, that happens when you look outward. I do that well, I serve and build up others to be successful.

A city council member has very limited authority. Public Safety (Police, Fire, EMT's) requires approximately 2/3 of the budget and most of that is payroll. We need to understand how we can invest in efficiency in Public Safety. I would request a transparent community review of the ALPR Cameras in the city. It is a big issue to citizens young and old, black and white. I would convene department heads and look to find efficiencies in each department using my business disciplines for procurement. Lastly, I would convene a joint session with Water & Sewer Commission to fully understand why so many projects get delayed by SWU and try to help them fund repairs to the oldest infrastructure. Lost water, means higher rates for all.
