The city council is the legislative branch of city government. It is the city councils duties to propose, debate, and pass local ordinances. The city council also approves the annual city budget. Additional important duties of the council include evaluating and enacting growth of the city through annexation. The council must be forward-looking to guide infracture development to support future growth and development. The council is responsible for monitoring the performance and effectiveness of the mayor and city employees. Responding to resident complaints, answering questions, and representing community concerns is another duty of the city council.
I have an extensive history of being in leadership roles both within the military and in civilian life. I am currently the medical director over a market of emergency departments where I manage a team of approximately 75 healthcare providers.
I would like to see the city develop a strategic plan of growth to help guide infrastructure investment. I would also like to review any existing emergency plans and ensure they are updated to current threats posed by the city.
