Describe the first thing you plan to change/improve when you take office and how you will accomplish that goal.
The Lt. Gov office is the least important elected government official in Arkansas. Some states don't even have one. All of the duties could easily be handled by other officials. The primary responsibility is to assume the office of Governor if the Governor leaves office. The Lt. Gov also presides over the State Senate and can cast a tie-breaking vote. There are some other limited responsibilities, including certain appointments.
I graduated with a political science degree from Wayland Baptist University. I have experience serving in leadership roles on boards of directors for public service organizations and utilities, managing dozens of employees/volunteers and multi-million dollar budgets. I am also a retired public school teacher and a veteran of the US Navy.
Cut the spending by/budget to the office in half and eliminate unnecessary positions.
Improve transparency by releasing all communications to and from the office and staff on a weekly basis, no FOIA requests required.
Be the public conscience and the voice of reason to a single party government that has become increasingly corrupt.
Conduct myself in a manner that does not publicly embarrass myself, the office, or the great state of Arkansas.
