The Colony is where my wife and I are raising our family, and I want to help shape the community our children will inherit. I believe local government works best when residents feel heard, understand how decisions are made, and know what their city is planning for the future. I am not a career politician. I am a husband, father, and neighbor who decided that wanting greater transparency, thoughtful growth, responsible spending, and more resident involvement also meant being willing to step up and serve. I will listen, ask questions, do the homework, and put residents first.
My career in marketing, strategy, & account management requires me to analyze data, manage budgets, solve problems, communicate with different stakeholders, & measure results. I have worked to understand our city by following council decisions, studying budgets & local issues, speaking with residents and community leaders, & participating at City Hall. I would bring preparation, curiosity, accountability, and a willingness to listen before making decisions.
I also served as a coach in The First Tee & youth basketball, and those experiences, along with other opportunities in life, have taught me how to lead, communicate, and bring out the best in others. I would bring preparation, curiosity, accountability, & a willingness to listen.
Making information public is not enough if residents cannot easily find or understand it. I support plain-language explanations of major proposals, budgets, development projects, and council actions, including why they are being considered and how residents may be affected. Communication must also work both ways. I will be accessible through community conversations, neighborhood events, email, and digital platforms while seeking input from residents who cannot regularly attend meetings. People may not always agree with my vote, but they should always understand why I cast it.
Growth should improve the quality of life of the people who already call The Colony home. With limited undeveloped land remaining, we must consider traffic, drainage, infrastructure capacity, green space, neighborhood compatibility, environmental impacts, and long-term costs when evaluating development. Redevelopment matters too. The city cannot force private investment, but it can work with the EDC, property owners, and businesses to reduce barriers and encourage reinvestment in underused areas. I want decisions guided by what The Colony should look like decades from now, not just the next project.
Transportation should connect our community, not simply move more vehicles through it. I would prioritize maintaining existing streets, addressing safety concerns, and ensuring new development accounts for the traffic and infrastructure demands it creates. We should also improve safe pedestrian, trail, and bicycle connections where practical. Many transportation challenges cross city boundaries, so I will advocate for strong coordination with Denton County, neighboring cities, regional partners, and TxDOT. Our transportation decisions should support a safe, connected, and thoughtfully growing city.

I’m running for City Council Place 4 because leadership isn't a political career, it’s a continuation of service. After 45 years living in The Colony, serving as a Navy veteran, and spending thousands of hours walking our streets as a Citizen Patrol volunteer, I know our city inside and out. I’m running to bring that lifetime of hands-on service, fiscal accountability, and real dedication to City Hall so our neighborhoods stay safe, our tax rates stay fair, and our city works for every resident.
Serving as a Navy Petty Officer (including participating in humanitarian operations such as Operation New Life in 1975) demonstrates discipline, a sense of duty, leadership under pressure, and a commitment to public service.
Having lived in the city for 45 years provides an invaluable historical perspective. I have seen how the city has grown over four decades, understanding both the challenges of growth and the unique character of established neighborhoods.
Co-founding the local Citizen Patrol Unit in 2016 and receiving the Volunteer of the Year award proves that I don't just speak about public safety, I actively volunteer alongside law enforcement to support neighborhoods and protect residents.
Engage community members directly through advisory committees, volunteer programs, and neighborhood liaison groups to involve residents in shaping municipal policies and public safety initiatives.
Ensure all public notices, budget summaries, and policy updates are written in clear, non-jargon language and made available in accessible formats to serve all demographics across the community.
Utilize The Colony Comprehensive Plan to guide mixed-use redevelopment and infill projects, ensuring new buildings fit the scale and character of existing neighborhoods.
Coordinate land-use approvals strictly with Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) to ensure water, sewer, and road capacity can handle added density before new construction begins.
Rebuild damaged park structures (like the Stewart Creek Park fishing pier) using high-durability, weather-resilient materials designed to withstand fluctuating water levels and major storm events.
Preserve natural riparian corridors and wetland vegetation along the shoreline to naturally stabilize soil, reduce shoreline erosion, and preserve local wildlife habitats.
Ensuring major thoroughfares, such as Highway 121, Main Street (FM 423), and Josey Lane, have optimized signal timing, adequate lane capacity, and smooth access points to move regional traffic without spilling into quiet subdivisions.
Prioritizing internal neighborhood roads, concrete repairs, storm drainage, and curb improvements across established subdivisions rather than allocating all resources solely to newer commercial areas.
Establishing safe, connected sidewalk networks, crosswalks, and trails that safely accommodate pedestrians, bicyclists, and e-bike operators while maintaining clear separation from heavy vehicular traffic.
