This is a position that comes with the need to remove ourselves from the narrative and placing others needs over our opinions and thoughts. I have worked in nonprofit organizations for social services to low income and senior housing communities in California, which helped develop this mindset.
I've worked in education at the middle school, high school, and college levels and that brings patience and understanding and empathy.
I've worked with people on both sides of the aisle, for eight years working with Republicans and the last ten years with Democrats. Having that mindset and experience helps to drive discussion and debate with respect and dignity.
Everything needs to be examined critically. We've seen lately multiple examples of Township Trustees operating without oversight and stealing millions from the voters. This isn't right, and no position should protect this. Every decision, every line item deserves to be debated and discussed, to ensure that we, as the board, give due diligence. It is our responsibility to ensure that taxpayer dollars are being used appropriately and for the benefit of taxpayers. Gas and inflation and rent prices have skyrocketed and many people are struggling, so being entrusted to make their lives easier and be treated with respect is key for this position.
I think that it's important to note that no matter what, if I am elected to this position, it will require working with those opposite from me. Whether the trustee position is won by Saad or Jon, there will need to be bipartisan work done as the board has three positions, and there will be at least one Republican on the board. Being able to respect that and their opinions, while workin on behalf of the people is what is most important. This position is there to help the community we live in, and our community is not all one party. So I would work with Saad or Jon to ensure that taxpayer dollars are being used to benefit the community, and ensure that the receipts are provided.
