City Council members are elected representatives of the citizens of Galesburg. All powers of the City are vested in the Council, except those that are prohibited by law or the City charter. The Council ensures that the City meets its obligations and performs its duties. The Council consists of the Mayor and six members.Council members are elected to four-year terms, staggered every two years. Three Council members are elected every two years.
