Qualifications and Experience I've spent more than 22 years living and working in northern Michigan, raising my family in Grayling. My background is in leadership, healthcare, and building organizations. I spent ten years in healt
Michigan's teachers do a lot with what they're given, and we can do better by investing in our classrooms, not pulling back. I'd put resources where they help most: rural and high-need schools, early reading, and the teachers we need to recruit and keep. I support bringing skilled trades back into our high schools and fully funding the arts, because not every student takes the same path. I build learning programs for a living, and I've learned a single test isn't the whole measure of a child. Everyone brings a unique brilliance — let's build schools that help every student discover and develop it.
Working families are squeezed from two sides: pay that doesn't stretch, and the rising cost of basics. Full-time work should be enough to afford a decent life. I support good local jobs, fair pay, and skilled-trades training so people can build a career close to home. I'd protect the Working Families Tax Credit and the retirement tax repeal helping our seniors, and expand programs like MI Tri-Share that make child care affordable. I'll keep working to lower housing, energy, and health care costs, including protecting families from crushing medical debt. The basics should be within reach.
Michiganders pay some of the highest energy bills in the region for some of the least reliable service. I'd tie utility rate increases and profits to actually delivering reliable power, and lower bills through weatherization and energy efficiency. I believe every Michigander has a right to clean air and clean water — and that polluters who contaminate our land and water, not taxpayers, should pay to clean it up. We can build a balanced, affordable energy mix while protecting the lakes, rivers, and air our health and way of life depend on.
Our constitutional rights — due process, free speech, and protection from unreasonable search and seizure — are the foundation of a free country, and they guard every one of us against government overreach. The Constitution applies to everyone on American soil, and I'll defend those protections for all Michigan residents. Immigration is largely a federal matter, but enforcement still must follow the law and the Constitution. Holding government to the rule of law and treating people fairly isn't partisan — it's what keeps all of our rights secure.
