First, I want to improve communication between the board, RCS, and the community. Rebuilding community trust in the board and RCS is a top priority. We need more involvement at Macomb County School Department monthly meeting and at the Michigan State department level for Schools Board.
We have three academies in Macomb County, and we need to be the best in all of Macomb County. We need to keep up with our technology.
Yes - we have an the adequate safety plan - but there is always room for improvement.
Yes - we are doing an excellent job - but there is always room for improvement.

I am motivated to run for the Romeo Community Schools Board of Education by a desire to serve the community my family has called home for more than a decade. As both a longtime RCS parent and a career public educator, I have experienced public education from multiple perspectives and understand the important role a Board of Education plays in establishing vision, setting policy, and providing fiscal oversight.
At the heart of my decision to run is a commitment to ensuring that all students and staff have a supportive environment in which to learn, grow, and succeed. I believe my experience in educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, school finance, strategic planning, and district governance can contribute a knowledgeable perspective to the Board while still recognizing that a Board member's first responsibility is to listen, learn, collaborate, and represent the community.
I believe a primary issue facing the Board is maintaining community trust through transparency, collaboration, and responsible governance. Board members must put the needs of the district ahead of individual agendas and understand the distinction between governance and day-to-day operations. If elected, I will ask thoughtful questions, listen with an open mind, respect the role of district leadership, and communicate openly with the community. I will also prioritize fiscal responsibility and a supportive learning environment where students can thrive and educators feel valued. My focus will remain on decisions that serve ALL Romeo students.
I have not had direct access to the district’s safety plans, so I cannot responsibly assess whether they are adequate. I do know that enhancing safety and security is identified as a goal in the district’s strategic plan. School safety should never be viewed as a finished task. Districts must continually evaluate procedures, facilities, training, communication, and emerging best practices. As a Board member, I would support ongoing review of safety measures and ensure the district has the resources necessary to provide safe, secure learning and working environments for students and staff.
I believe this is a significant point of pride for Romeo Community Schools. The Academies model gives students opportunities to explore a variety of careers and develop skills aligned with their interests and future goals. I value that Romeo recognizes success after graduation doesn't follow a single path. College, skilled trades, technical training, and direct entry into the workforce are all valuable options. I would support continuing to strengthen partnerships and opportunities that help every student graduate with a meaningful plan for what comes next.

I love living in the Village of Romeo and giving back to my community in every way that I can. With my 40 year background in our public school system, I will serve as a voice of educational experience and reason.
Every public school district has a responsibility to use public dollars wisely and transparently. With 40 years in public education as a teacher, building administrator, and board office administrator, I understand the demands on public school budgets and the diverse needs it must support. Additionally, with a strong background in curriculum and assessment, I can help the district teachers and administrators improve curriculum, support student growth, and raise our state and national assessment scores. Finally, as a board member, I will focus on student learning, safety, and the extra-curricular programs that ensure student confidence, build lasting relationships, and broaden parental and community involvement.
There is an always evolving need to ensure student and staff safety. As a result, schools must adapt by providing that best protocols from local, state, and national safety are adopted. Staff development and safety drills must be provided regularly and with fidelity. Working with local authorities to provide best safety recommendations and on-site support must be continued.
Given the reality of social media and quickly changing technology, schools must provide students with skills needed to navigate the benefits and understand the challenges that technology represents. School teachers, administrators, and parents must be supported as well to protect students in the midst of online bullying and pressures that impact student health/safety.
Yes, the Romeo Schools are ahead of the field in Michigan and elsewhere. Providing an academies career pathway program at the high school, a Ninth Grade Academy that explores student interests, and a middle school academy program that encourages student community service via non-profit exploration and participation are all key examples of why Romeo students have multiple options for future success. These programs must continue with support.
