Eastpointe Community Schools has reached a turning point. Appointed to the board in February 2025, Ian's played an active role in supporting the stabilization of our storied district. Despite past challenges, ECS has updated our curriculum, increased student activities outside of the classroom, and renovated buildings across the district to improve the learning environment. Ian's now running to continue this fulfilling service for another four years. Good schools are the cornerstone of a thriving city, which means his community building focus begins with Eastpointe Community Schools. As a member of the AIR Slate, Ian encourages you to support our candidacy. Let's ACE This, Eastpointe!

A lifelong Michigander, Ian's Macomb County roots run deep. His work lies at the intersection of community building through political organization and economic development. Please check out his LinkedIn Profile for more information. Support the AIR Slate for Eastpointe. Let's ACE This, Eastpointe!
The AIR Slate for Eastpointe Community Schools ACE Policy Focus supports the foundation of a well-rounded public education: Academics, Career and Technical Education (CTE), and Extracurriculars. Let's ACE This, Eastpointe!

Ian's candidacy focuses on three related and equally important areas: Student Leadership, Board Advocacy, and Fiscal Responsibility. This includes:

-Improving Student Board Representative effectiveness by developing priority lists and supporting their activities on and off the dais. -Preserving state and federal funding, and fully funding IDEA and similar programs. -Maintaining a healthy fund balance, ensuring competitive staff compensation, and exploring new funding opportunities such as establishing an ECS Foundation.
Eastpointe Community Schools has an updated emergency operations plan (EOP) for all school buildings. The district complies with all state and federal law. ECS maintains a positive working relationship with our local public safety (MedStar, EFD, and EPD), including a partnership with Eastpointe to fund and host our district student resource officer (SRO), Detective Prude. ECS also consistently responds to student and staff feedback, such as purchasing upgraded technology including (but not limited to) metal detectors and two-way radios. More information can be found on the “School Safety” and “Human Resources” pages on the district website. The safety of students, staff, and the communities of Eastpointe and South Warren are a top priority!
The AIR Slate for Eastpointe believe every ECS student should have a pathway after graduation, whether that is going to college, pursuing a trade, joining the military, or entering the workforce:

-Build upon successful CTE Programs including Culinary Arts, Public Safety, and Marketing to increase post-grad opportunities. -Continue to seek out mutually beneficial CTE consortium partnerships, such as the district's connection to South Lake Schools allowing our students to take Auto Shop. -Expand opportunities to technology and advanced manufacturing career, including ECS' partnership with SME to bring a Mechatronics Program, as well as the district's dual enrollment partnership with Macomb Community College (MCC) in programs such as Welding.

I am stepping up to run for the East Point school board because I truly believe it is time for new energy and a fresh perspective. My decision to put my name on the ballot comes down to a very simple goal: I want to support the parents and children throughout our district. Our families deserve dedicated advocacy, and I have the time, the energy, and the sincere desire to do this work. Throughout 2026, I have been attending our regular school board meetings, deeply studying the issues and understanding the responsibilities of this office. I am ready to listen to our families, focus entirely on our kids, and help our district navigate the latest changes in education. I have the drive and commitment to serve, and I would be honored to earn your trust and work for you."
1.Parent and Community Communication Prioritize keeping parents and students informed about every important change in our district, and actively encourage families to attend school board meetings and share their voices. 2. Student Academic Support - Put students first academically, making sure our district stays current with the best educational practices and that no child is left behind. 3. School and Food Safety - I will work to ensure every student is safe in our buildings and that our food programs meet the highest standards, especially given the many changes happening in our society today. 4. Budget Transparency - Ensure parents and the community always know how our district's money is being spent, building the trust and strong rapport

After being appointed my first term,I completed the task before me and while doing so, I came into my own. I began to lean on my experience as an educator dealing with what is and was important at each decision dealing with the students, teaches, staff and administration and most of all the parents; in which all of this brings about a workable community. I have worked with each opponent throughout my 30-35 year tenure. I have worked in the DPS system as a noon-hour aide, school-service assistant, secretary and were encouraged by the entire administration staff at that time to go and switch from my trade as a cosmetologist to a profession as an educator. Upon getting on the board I notice that at that time there were now two of us on the board. That is why I feel with my experience in teaching and administration we can and will continue to bring about the workable success for our board for the benefits of all concern.
With different issues facing the board non- stop. We the board are faced with academic recovery, students safety, and community polarization. I would address the early literacy: low reading proficiency rates that focus for educational quality. The post-pandemic learning gaps. Having to prioritizing helping students catching up on lost instructional time across core subjects. And try to help the community to understanding Budget and Financial Pressures by understanding resource allocation managing tight funds, rising operational expenses, and inflation strains choices. Also, Facility Upkeep: maintaining aging infrastructure that often requires maximizing bonds funds and modernization projects. Finally, helping to retain certified teachers.
Yes, We have sustained and updated our discipline and bulling rules that deals with inappropriate peer behavior negatively that impacts the school culture and academic progress. Our school security not only secure, but also nurture the involvement as much as possible to prevent environment free from violence.
Yes, Eastpointe School District has extended the opportunities for those students not desiring to enter college after graduation. We have advanced manufacturing careers such as ECS' partnerships with SME in bringing a Mechatronics Program. Also, we have dual enrollment in partnership with Macomb Community College, beginning with Welding.
