Vote for one member from Morristown for 3 yearsThe Morris School District Board of Education is an elected, unpaid group of 10 citizens (5 from Morris Township, 4 from Morristown, and one from Morris Plains) who serve as representatives of their community. The board acts as a single body to develop policies that govern school operation in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
As a former public school kid, I am running because I believe deeply in the power of public education. I grew up in a low-income NJ neighborhood where English was not the primary language. Because of the opportunities our school district created, along with a mom and teachers who taught me how to speak up and question, I was able to thrive. That experience sparked a lifelong commitment to children's advocacy.
For years, I have stood up for kids in IEP meetings, different school board rooms, healthcare settings, and at the state house for bill hearings. I want to bring that hands-on experience home to the Morris School District.
I am not entering this race with a single grievance or empty promises I cannot keep. Instead, I want to focus on opening doors. Families need to feel heard, and our educators need to feel valued. My instinct is always to ask the practical questions: What is working well? Where are the gaps? Who are we hearing from, and whose voices might we be missing? I want to listen to our students, teachers, and neighbors first, so we can work together to build a supportive district that creates real pathways for students to succeed.
My background is a mix of financial oversight and deep community roots. Professionally, I bring over 15 years of experience in accounting and operational leadership. I am a lifelong learner with multiple degrees and certifications because understanding how complex systems work is important to me. My day-to-day career involves managing budgets, finding hidden inefficiencies, and bringing teams together to solve practical problems.
Outside of my career, I am a local mom, volunteer, and nonprofit leader. My advocacy work led me to help pass a law here in New Jersey, connecting me with community leaders across Morris County.
But what truly prepares me is my willingness to say, "I don't know yet." I believe a responsible board member should come prepared to learn, examine the evidence objectively, and collaborate with the community before making choices that affect our kids. The problem-solving mindset I use daily is entirely transferable to helping guide our school system.
I do not view teacher retention, educational quality, and fiscal responsibility as separate issues, they depend on each other. With over 15 years of experience in accounting and operational leadership, I look at budgets through a lens of long-term value, not just quick cuts or high spending.
Losing a great teacher has a real financial and cultural cost to our schools. My approach is to look at the practical details: Are our resources actually aligned with student outcomes? Can we streamline administrative processes to find savings that we can put right back into our classrooms?
Taxpayers need to know their hard-earned dollars are being handled responsibly, students deserve an excellent education, and teachers need a supportive workplace so they want to stay. I want to bring my financial background to the board so we can look at the whole picture together and make choices that support our schools while respecting our community.
As a community volunteer, nonprofit leader, and mom with school aged children, my stake in the Morris School District is personal. I am not entering this race with a predetermined list of curriculum changes. My immediate priority is to listen, learn, and collaborate. I want to hear directly from our educators, administrators, and families to understand what they are experiencing in the classroom.
My philosophy centers on educating the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally. I want to ensure our schools prepare all students for life after graduation, whether they pursue college, a trade, or the workforce. Rather than proposing changes today, I want to first understand what is working well and where the genuine gaps are so we can support every child's path.
