Safety is the number one priority of my campaign and what will be my focus - we have had a long history of controversy in the fire department, the Chief of Police being denied funds for school security cameras, dangerous intersections, unsafe hotels, and a complacency that had led to issues either being ignored or not addressed until there is major public outrage. I plan to ensure safety becomes a priority for our Township government and will partner with all facets of government, law enforcement, and safety commands to ensure our town is prepared for all safety incidents, large and small.
Additionally, I believe we are living in a divided town; one where the two major political parties do not mingle and where one party feels isolated and treated as persona-non-grata. One of my priorities will be establishing initiatives that bring our community together and seeing eachother first as countrymen & women and as fellow neighbors. The division is not good for the morale of the Township nor is it the example we want our children to have.
My experience is broad and focused on small business ownership organizational development, restructuring and transformation, business development, and healthcare as a Critical Care Registered Nurse.
As a small business owner who has built a business from scratch to a 7-figure business in 5 years - understanding how to deal with cash flow, payroll, employee development, my experience can help revitalize the small business community and help more residents become small business owners.
My background as a healthcare executive has prepared me to lead organizational change, negotiating with high level executives, and developing and implementing protocols within health systems. This will lend well when requiring to parter and collaborate with government institutions to support Hanover.
My experience as a Critical Care Nurse, caring for the sick and elderly, has prepared me and exposed me to the challenges of our most vulnerable. Ensuring that our town has the resources and programs available to support our elderly, disabled, special needs, and those with chronic health conditions will be a priority of mine.
The first thing we need to do is speak with current business owners and understand their struggles. Once we understand what they need, I will work with local, state, and federal resources and government institutions to develop and launch programs eliminating barriers and bottlenecks current business owners are experiencing.
Meeting with former business and those who chose otherwise to understand better what barriers they had identified and why they chose a competing Township. This way we can proactively develop a business-first mindset to attract more businesses to settle in Hanover.
We need to partner with local non-profits, the Morris area chamber of commerce, specialty chamber of commerce organizations and make it clear that Hanover is open for business.
Working with the planning and EDAC boards to reinvent a town plan that focuses certain areas for thriving businesses, and true suburban downtown with a business backbone and residential and walkable community ambiance, and promote private-public partnerships helping business and residents flourish while increasing our tax revenue without increasing taxes for residents.
There has been some impact here regarding housing displaced individuals in local motels in subpar living conditions which raised many concerns for the community having individuals with unknown backgrounds being housed near our children and schools.
My focus, as a municipal leader, will be focused more on the operational aspects of the decisions of the feds and state that will impact our town directly. I will ensure that whatever decision is made maintains the safety and peace of our neighborhood while also partnering with local organizations to help displaced individuals find human lodging and permanent home in an environment that will be most conducive to their success.
My number one environmental priority will be to keep hyperspace data centers out of town and maintain our open public spaces. Additionally, ending the controversial Pipegate situation with the SM water commission will be a priority - the lead pipes needs to be replaced as it’s the authority’s responsibility to provide clean water and so this needs to happen on the dime in the authority. Our residents have been paying for water for decades and the authority should have budgeted for these types of projects and unfortunately, our committee has not taken a stronger stance and one that will lead to success.
