Chester Borough Council {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

Chester is governed under the Borough form of New Jersey municipal government. The governing body consists of a Mayor and a Borough Council comprising six council members, with all positions elected at-large on a partisan basis as part of the November general election. A Mayor is elected directly by the voters to a four-year term of office. The Borough Council consists of six members elected to serve three-year terms on a staggered basis, with two seats coming up for election each year in a three-year cycle.

The most important challenges facing our town is pedestrian safety, supporting our first aid squad, the Highlands water issues, and bringing together our community. Transparency with our local leaders of what is important to make our community feel safe. I would like to bring a fresh perspective, having three kids growing up in Chester, of what we can feel proud of in our town. I feel I can mediate towards working for positive changes of safety.
I am a licensed professional counselor working in the field for 25 years. I am a partner in a Morris county private practice. I feel I can bring my knowledge of seeing patterns, triggers, and getting in front of an issue to make changes. I have lived in Chester for 17 years and have three kids attending local schools. I am member of Common Thread and work actively on the committee supporting our local Pride event . I am a leader in my children’s sports teams.
To start, we would need a vibrant economy. I believe it is important to not assume everyone is not effective by the cost of living and economic strain of this administration. Supporting growth and sustainable boro shops and farms would aid in this challenge. To feel safe and supported we need to have a viable first aid squad.
Sadly, our community has been greatly affected with local raids on farms and even churches. The threat of Rockbury detention hall has impacted many. This is a very serious topic for me. I do not want to stand silent and become part of the problem. Fundamentally if we cannot aid our fellow Chester Boro families in this time then we have lost any sense of community. No one should fear to live in our town. I would like to support those within Common thread, Mendham/Chester Angels to have a leadership role and task force to combat these issues. We have had two unrelated, but violent deaths to women in our community. It would be very beautiful to see a Women’s center in Chester for resources, support and Mental health assistance.
I believe we need to take lesson from our Mendham neighbors and provide better safety crossings with in the Boro. We may not be completely capable of becoming a walking town but the issue of walking close to schools has been brought up. The highlands water supply simply needs to have a plan of action for those with wells. We cannot deny the environmental impact. With that said, the environmental impact of a detention center in Rockbury, as well as an ethical issue, IS a Chester issue.
