The Clerk attends all county board meetings and is responsible for keeping all board proceedings. The County Clerk issues and maintains vital records such as birth certificates, death certificates, and marriage licenses. The Clerk's office maintains records such as notary public applications, liquor licenses, mobile home files, business registrations, landfill site applications, lawsuits, and delinquent tax records. Voting should be convenient, secure and accessible for every resident, regardless of where they live or what schedule they work.
Implementing universal polling places is critical to achieving that. Allowing registered voters to cast their ballot at any designated polling location on Election Day provides increased convenience to voters. I have met voters who work across the street from a polling place, but because it is not their assigned location, are forced to commute to and from the location designated to them. We can increase accessibility by trusting voters to cast their ballot when and where they choose.
The fundamental guiding principle remains clear: we need to maintain election security while expanding access and convenience.
Elections in McLean County are already safe, secure, and accurate, which allows us focus on improving accessibility and convenience for voters. As County Clerk, my role isn't just to administer elections, it is to actively engage with people and boost participation in the electoral process in a strictly nonpartisan way. When more of us vote, the more reflective our government is of our communities — increased participation with an emphasis on convenience and security will serve all of McLean County well.
Modernizing operations within the County Clerk’s office is essential for delivering high-quality, fiscally responsible services to the public.
We will implement a mobile service initiative to reach the rural areas of our county, our proposed "Clerk on the Go" program. By making all of our residents a priority, not just those in close proximity to our office space, Vital Records services like marriage licenses and birth certificates will be accessible to everyone.
Restoring fiscal responsibility to the office is a top priority. The current County Clerk has spent significantly more than the budget taxpayers have provided the office. I will bring a spirit of collaboration to county finances, working with the County Board to spend wisely.
