I am a fan of two Property Tax bills that will be considered this next session 1 is JD Prescotts House Bill 1288 which completely eliminates all PropTaxes and funds all of Local Services and Schools with a 7% Tax on Services, 2 is Sen Mishlers proposed bill which eliminates PropTaxes on the home you live in, that proposal will be made public on the 29th of Sept so those details are not yet out!
That's a tough one! The State can't regulate the cost of goods and services in a Free Market Society, but it would sure be nice to know what the cost is prior to incurring same! We do take care of the neediest through Medicaid, Medicare Recipients are in good shape and those with Employer sponsored Health Ins are typically OK, the balance has to purchase their own coverage or change jobs to one where it is provided!
I am in favor of what we now are doing with Parental Choice, student outcomes should dictate future funding based on performance.
We have to be much tougher on criminals! They are committing crimes in some areas and right back on the street to do more, have complete confidence in our Law Enforcement, let them do their job and keep criminals off the streets!
If we abolish Property Taxes everyone and every business will want to locate here, which puts Indiana in the driver's seat to be selective, we need to pursue every source for energy, Nuclear, Wind, Solar, Oil, Gas, Coal and get more selective going forward with what results we see!
Abolishing Property Taxes Completely! It would be the single greatest Driver of affordability! House Bill 1288 which will be considered will tax Services at7% which the legislative accounting shows that it would generate more revenue than the current PropTax System, the Unpardonable SIN of Property Taxes is Hoosiers being evicted from a home they own because they fell on hard times and can't pay the tax! Not what I call "Hoosier Hospitality!"

I have a proven voting record for considering very thoughtfully how perceived tax breaks have had significant ripple effects of decreasing funding in Carmel Clay and Hamilton Southeastern schools specifically. When surveyed House District 32 did not feel the mere $300 in savings was worth the significant loss in funding for schools. More work is needed to find real and sustainable solutions for Hoosiers.
I have worked very hard across the aisle in ensuring that we are making first healthcare transparency a priority so that we can make data informed decisions regarding the barriers to affordable healthcare.
So many changes have been enacted year after year that I have grown weary of more change in the K-12 education space. Next session, we need to ensure teachers are provided with adequate pay and benefits, this should be our priority.
I say often that, law and order, must be balanced with care and concern. We must ensure that public safety continues to have all available resources and training that promote healthy and thriving communities. It takes the work of the community in building safe spaces and parks, access to fresh food, enforcing local curfews and nuisance laws, and having access to healthcare that contribute to healthy and safe communities.
Recognizing the speed of technology is vital to recognizing what can and should have priority in our state. Precious resources like water should be preserved and have devastating impacts if misused far beyond a technological fad. The issue of continued growth and expansion of the tech industry needs continue public vetting.
I have passed one major piece of legislation in my first term and it continues to be a vital program today!
