Candidate Statement
HSE schools have done so much for my three kids. My son (3rd grade at HSE) was born 100% blind and HSE has been such a blessing to our family. I am running to give back. Focus on our exceptional learners programs and all students success, support our teachers, maintain fiscal responsibility, and govern with common sense policy making.

I am a proud product of Indiana public schools and a graduate of Noblesville High School. My mother was also a public school teacher for 17 years, so I grew up with a strong appreciation for public education and the important role teachers play in our communities.
Today, my wife Rachel and I have three children attending HSE Schools. Our son James, a third grader at Brooks School Elementary, was born blind and receives exceptional learner services through the district. Seeing firsthand the impact that dedicated teachers, staff, and exceptional learner programs have had on James has given me a deep appreciation for HSE Schools.
My experience as a parent, particularly as the parent of a child with special needs, is a major reason I am running for school board. I want to help ensure that every student has the support and opportunity they need to succeed.
As a parent of three HSE students, I would bring a parent-first perspective to the school board. My son James was born blind, and advocating for his education has taught me the importance of listening to families, supporting teachers, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Professionally, my background in business, real estate, and quality assurance has given me experience with budgets, contracts, problem-solving, risk management, and making decisions based on facts and measurable results. My degree in biology from Purdue University also gave me a strong appreciation for academic rigor and critical thinking.
Most importantly, I would bring a willingness to listen, ask difficult questions, work collaboratively, and approach decisions with common sense. I believe a school board member should keep students at the center of every decision while supporting our educators and being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars.
My first budget priority is making sure taxpayer dollars reach the classroom and directly support student achievement. I would prioritize competitive compensation to recruit and retain great teachers, strong exceptional learner programs, school safety, and the resources students need to succeed.
As a board member, I would carefully review administrative and non-classroom spending to identify efficiencies before considering reductions that affect students or teachers. I would also evaluate programs based on measurable outcomes and whether they are delivering value for students.
HSE is accountable both to our students and to the taxpayers who fund our schools. My goal would be to maintain strong educational opportunities while practicing fiscal discipline, planning responsibly for long-term needs, and ensuring the district gets the greatest possible value from every taxpayer dollar.
The superintendent should be evaluated against clear, measurable goals for student achievement, fiscal responsibility, staff retention, school safety, and district priorities.
The board should maintain regular communication, review results, ask tough questions, and hold the superintendent accountable while respecting their responsibility for day-to-day operations. Transparency with the community should be central to that process.
Transparency builds trust. I would support clear meeting agendas, accessible information, and open communication about the reasoning behind major decisions.
I would also encourage meaningful opportunities for parents, teachers, students, and taxpayers to provide input. The community deserves to understand not only what decisions are made, but why they are made.
I believe the current administration is well equipped and will continue to provide this.
