I have dedicated more than two decades to law enforcement and have had the honor of serving as Anderson County Sheriff for the past eight years. During that time, I've worked to build a Sheriff's Office that is professional, accountable, and focused on serving our citizens. I'm also proud to have been named the 2025 Tennessee Sheriff of the Year and to have served as President of the Tennessee Sheriffs' Association, where I've worked alongside sheriffs from across our state to improve public safety.

My experience isn't just in leading an agency—it's in serving people, managing budgets responsibly, supporting our deputies, and making decisions that keep Anderson County safe.
One of the biggest challenges facing law enforcement today is recruiting and retaining qualified deputies and correctional officers. Across Tennessee, agencies are competing for a limited pool of experienced professionals while the demands of the job continue to increase.

To address this, we must continue investing in our people through competitive pay and benefits, quality training, modern equipment, and a workplace culture that values professionalism and wellness. When we take care of the men and women who serve, they are better equipped to take care of our community. At the same time, we must continue using technology, partnerships, and proactive policing strategies to stay ahead of crime while being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.
Protecting our children and our community gatherings is one of our highest responsibilities. I strongly support maintaining highly trained School Resource Officers in our schools and continuing to work closely with school administrators on emergency planning, threat assessments, and safety training. Public safety also requires visible law enforcement presence at major community events, where we coordinate with local police, fire, EMS, and emergency management to ensure everyone can safely enjoy those events.

Funding these efforts should be a partnership. We should continue pursuing state and federal grant opportunities whenever possible while working with the County Commission, school system, and local governments to make wise investments in public safety. Keeping our schools and families safe is one of the best investments we can make.
Family visitation is an important part of rehabilitation and can help reduce repeat offenses when conducted safely and securely. We should continue providing opportunities for inmates to maintain positive family connections.

Regarding jail expansion, my position is straightforward: we should only expand when it is justified by population needs, operational requirements, and legal obligations.

I support evidence-based alternatives that hold individuals accountable while addressing the underlying causes of criminal behavior. Our Alternatives to Incarceration Division has been recognized statewide for its success and continues to play a vital role in reducing recidivism.
My responsibility as Sheriff is to enforce the laws that fall within my authority while protecting the safety of everyone in Anderson County. If someone commits a crime, they will be held accountable regardless of their immigration status. We will continue to cooperate with our federal law enforcement partners, including immigration authorities, as required by law and when appropriate.
