Candidate For Office
Josh R Williams
My career has been built around service, leadership, and solving problems. From my experience in emergency medical services and nonprofit leadership with the Arlington Rescue Squad to managing hospitality operations and leading teams in Vermont, I have learned to make difficult decisions, manage limited resources, and remain accountable to the people depending on me.
As a leader, I believe in listening first, bringing people together, and following through. Having lived in Vermont since 2008, I understand the challenges facing working Vermonters because I experience many of them myself.
I bring practical management experience, a commitment to public service, and the willingness to challenge the status quo.
I would start by demanding greater transparency and accountability in school spending. Vermont must find ways to control costs without sacrificing the quality of education our children deserve or placing an unsustainable burden on taxpayers.
Most importantly, reforms must recognize that every community is different. Rural schools are the heart of many Vermont towns, and cost savings should never come at the expense of students, teachers, or the communities they serve.
The goal should be simple: better outcomes, responsible spending, and a sustainable education system that working Vermonters can afford.
VT can grow without losing what makes it special. I would support modernizing land-use rules to make housing development more predictable, reduce unnecessary delays, and encourage construction where infrastructure already exists. We should empower towns to identify appropriate areas for growth while protecting working farms, forests, watersheds, and sensitive natural resources.
I would also advocate for greater flexibility in permitting accessory dwelling units, smaller homes, and mixed-use development. State policy should support local decision-making rather than impose a one-size-fits-all approach.
Our goal should be to make Vermont affordable for the people who live and work here while preserving the landscapes that define our state.
