Candidate For Office Washington-1 House of Representatives
I am a lifelong Vermonter in Central VT; U‑32 grad with degrees from Castleton, Champlain, and VSU. 25+ years in state service representing staff at VSEA and the retirement board. Deep local involvement in Barre City and Northfield; service with Veterans’ Place, SAL, Lions, Mutuo, 251 Club, Green Up, Scouting, and PTAC; trained in emergency management; former Mayor, City Council member, Health Officer, and election assistant. I’m running to make Vermont more affordable, restore opportunity, and improve government through respectful, nonpartisan collaboration. After decades of rising taxes, regulations, and costs—and shrinking enrollment and workforce—we need to be ready to act.
Make Vermont affordable: support farms/forestry/small biz; add amenities to retain young Vermonters; stabilize housing/childcare. Housing: modernize Act 250; simplify permits; fair landlord/tenant reforms; fund via short‑term/second‑home taxes. Infrastructure/energy: fix roads/bridges; expand water/wastewater, transit; grow local clean energy; consider SMR nuclear. Education/childcare: foundation formula; savings to childcare; expand dual enrollment/apprenticeships/CTE. Healthcare/safety net: boost competition, consolidate health IT, price transparency; strengthen rural/mental/telehealth; fair family law. Taxes/climate: new taxes only with low‑income relief, simplicity, long‑term ROI; avoid cost
